i am looking for some tires that will be good in all around weather.....i have been looking at tire rack and i was wondering if the tires that DONT say ALL SEASON mean that they suck in snow......

 

If they aren't an "all-season" tire as categorized by the Tire Rack, its a pretty sure bet that they will perform horribly in the snow. Your question is a little vague, can you be more specific?

 

just because they say 4 season, be very skeptical. As you will see by many other posters - 90% at best are 3 season tires only. Don't know they snow/ice conditions of your area, investing in a bargain $ set may still save you in the long run.
ie: one fender bender, bent rim, xtra life on your 'good' rubber etc.

 

Usually if the tire isn't classified as an all-season tire, or stamped "M+S", it's a summer-only tire and yeah, it's going to suck in the snow.

Just be aware, as mentioned already, though that even though a tire is all-season, doesn't mean it's going to do well in the snow. It just means it's "passable". Lots of all-season tires actually kinda suck in snowy, icy conditions......

 

Every all season tire that I have driven on sucks in the snow compared to a real winter tire. My advice is that if you live in a really snowy area, that you get a set of winter rims/tires...it can save you a lot of $ later on.

 

Yeah, what is up with people saying " I'll do fine in the snow, I got all seasons". Bull! All season tires are NOT snow tires. Every all season tire I've ever had on ANY car, has handled like sh*@, in the snow! You want sure traction in the snow, you buy snow tires!! Especially around here. Bridgestone Blizzacks are awesome and I this year bought the Toyo Observes, which so far have been great!

 

I agree. If you really want good performance in winter, get a set of snow tires. I'm getting some Michelin Winter Sport M3s for next winter. I have the "All-Season" Potenza RE950 High Performance tires on now, and they are terrible in snow, just like most all-season tires are. I'm done driving in winter with All-Seasons.

And yes, if you are thinking about driving in snow with summer-only tires, think again. If they aren't classified as all-season or winter tires, you DON"T want to use them in winter. The tread compound in a summer tire is not meant to stay pliable and usable in cold temperatures. The tires will get stiff and get terrible traction even on cold dry roads.
