Just put new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on my '03 Maxima

The OEM Blowtenzas were overly worn on the front and just enough on the rear to warrant new tires.

I'm really pleased with these tires so far. Much better than the crap Nissan provided when I bought the car.

Where did you buy them and how much? I have 23k on the Crapenzas and was planning on getting Pilot Sports. My tires just keep spinning on hard acceleration. How is the grip from a dead stop? I bet the handling is great. Look forward to your updates.

i have sport A/s also.. and the acceleration is great.. you can spin them but they will grab after like 2 seconds.. rain traction is perfect, and sidewalls are really hard so you get instant reaction to sharp turning

Yeah I am interested in finding out where you bought those Michelin tires too. I have about 46,000 miles and I am planning to get new tires soon. I heard a lot of good things about the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and I am thinking of getting some for my car.

I just got some Falken 512s and they are great so far. I've had the Pilot sprts before and can tell you that anyone who gets them will not be disappointed. I just couldn't afford them this round.

I have Nitto 450's. They are great on dry, but there is problem if you want to peel off. Not that I want to, but once in a while you want to race that damn mustang. However, they suck on snow, the worst imaginable traction. Same on wet condition, wheels will spin from the stop, and they won't even spin, but wobble, meaning the whole front will jump, cause they grip and then let go. Anyone else had this problem with Nitto's? I know they were cheap, $109 a piece.
Thanks

honestly.. i've gone through many tires.. and the best one so far is the Falken 451
they last forever,, and has awsome traction.. i try to spin them but they grab like pitbull claws..
i've had 2 screws go in the tire and still did not flatten the tire

i went with the pilot sport a/s in 235/50/17 for my replacements @ about 18k. they were a great tire in every weather condition i could throw at them. my only complaint was the price and i got them for 180 each plus tax and some free luggage through sears a while back. i replaced them with nitto 555 and i feel as they are just in every condition. they run about 115 a piece shipped with no tax. i loved the a/s but in my case i found a better bargain without giving up anything.

I have Ziex's as well and so far, so GREAT!!! I would have preferred the Pilot Sports but the price is a MAJOR turnoff. I can afford them but, it just didnt make financial sense.

Wow! You got that many miles out of the Blowtenzas? I have 28k miles on mine and the fronts were worn on the outside edge to the point that I didn't feel safe driving in the rain at all.

I bought them from Tire Rack for $196 each. They are expensive tires but Tire Rack was the best price I found. They drop shipped the tires to a local installer and I went over there yesterday to have them installed.

I also had the car aligned. The handling is better than it was when I drove the car off the dealer's lot. I'm very pleased with it. I haven't tried to spin the tires but I can tell that the car is much more responsive now.

If you had experience w/ Falken 115s, how do 115s compare to 451?

They start off pretty quiet and with a lot of grip. They definitly make you more confident in the twisties. Around 30k, they start to get louder and begin to slip a little. I replaced mine at 50k because winter was coming up, but they still had enough tread for another 10k, however traction was really decreasing at that point. In short: great tires, but REALLY expensive. I'm on my second set now (10k on them). I think I got about 35k on the craptenzas before I decided that I needed to burn them with hell's fury, cover them in acid, shoot them with a 357 magnum, and burry them 30' below ground. Of course, I never went through with it, but they sucked that badly!

Mine were about a grand for all four with install, balance, and alignment. I had to work an extra three hours to make that!

Friday I got the BFGoodrich Traction T/A's for my max and so far I like them a lot. MUCH more quiet than the Yokohama AVS ES's that were on my car when I bought it. I haven't been on any curvy roads yet, but the acceleration traction is great. TireRack has them for $116 each.

Get the pilots, you will not be sorry. Since you live in Tampa, you could go with the summer tires. They are cheaper than the A/S's. They handle great, especially in the rain.

For $200+ for each tire, they are not such a great deal, quite expensive for a tire that does not have a long tread life.

Where are you shopping that they are $200+ each? That's only if you have 18's or 19's. Not only that, but if you buy the summer tires, they are $25+ cheaper than the all-seasons. Yes they are more expensive than some of the other tires mentioned here, but they are a quality tire that will not dissappoint you. When it comes to tires, or anything regarding safety, I'd rather not screw around and buy something just because it's a good deal. That's the type of tires that were on my car when I bought it. The handled like absolute crap. The tire would slip considerably in the rain. The pilots handle amazingly well, especially in the rain. I've driven through medium size puddles that used to cause some hydroplaning. Nothing whatsoever with the pilots. It's like driving on a dry road.

Been to all the local tire shops, including Mavis, STS, Pep boys. I agree the safety buffer is not something I will sacrifice, but from around here, $200+ for each 17" tire is a joke. Can You point me to the source of where you purchased your Pilots from?

BTW- I'd def need All season tires here on the northeast.

PLUS shipping...

The cheapest prices I've seen reported were at COSTCO with the $60 rebate they offer every once in a blue moon.

I recently put on the Pilot Sport A/S tires (225/50Z17). Final cost from Sullivan Tire was $144.67 per tire. They had a special buy 4 tires get one free, then a Good Year rebate of $70 for opening a credit acct, and there was a $70 rebate on the tires themselves. Felt I got a good deal. I love the way the tires look and perform.

Yea, that price is amazingly low. Too bad no one in NY will even come close to that price. best price I got was $222 installed, mounted/balanced.

ebay has it for sufficiently less than the prices listed above. but i think they are slightly used. anyone disapprove of USED tires? lemme know because they are a lot cheaper. but if it's a bad idea i'm going for new pilots.
