Help a bro in selecting tires

Hey Guys,

It's a time for me to replace tires on my 97 I30 with over 182K. Currently I am running BF Goodrich Touring T/A's. Those have been great overall but I kinda felt those were not great in wet conditions. My ABS used to kick in for no reason from time to times. I had Michelin Pilots before this set and had Bridgestone Potenzas before the Michelin.

Anyways, let me tell you my story. I have a cousin who owns a tire shop and he carry only following brands.

Michelin
Bridgestone
Firestone
Dunlop
BF Goodrich.

Out of the above list which are the best tire for all-season and particularly for wet traction since it rains for about 4+ months in bay area. Since the car is not worth more than 5000 I don't want to put too expensive tires in that.

Tires I have owned that I like (all are very good in the rain):

Bridgestone Potenza RE930
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
Kumho Ecsta ASX

I would add the Potenza RE950 to that list. Excellent high-performance all-season tires. Mediocre in snow, but good enough to get around town.

Thanks a lot folks.

Seems like I am gonna fall for Potenza RE950s.

I called my cousin and he said it will be $365 installed all four after getting discounted rate for my only ;-) It includes road-hazard warranty in it too.

Am I saving a bunch here or it's a normal price with installation? What you guys have paid?

$365 seems like a great deal, especially if mounted, balanced plus road haz, although knowing the specific size would make it easier to tell. In the Bridgestone family, some have also recommended the Turanza LS-V (their H rated tire is the LS-H, which is even cheaper)

Oops, I meant RE950's not 930s

I ran 930s before the 950s, but they aren't on my top 3 list.
