Anyway, here's your ultimate dry performance tire:

Michelin Pilot PS2s if money was no object or the Goodyear F1 GS-D3s if money was a little bit of an issue...

My tire guy is suggesting the Toyo Proxes T1-S. He's saying that the build quality is much better than the Goodyears and he has a much easier time balancing them compared to the Goodyear F1 GS-D3.

Either one looks like a great tire. I am certainly concidering the Goodyears F1's too. The prices are comparable, Toyo's being a tiny bit less expensive.

I had Falken Azenis ST-115 and they were very sticky. I'm going to try Falken GRB FK-451 this summer because I heard 451s are just as sticky.

No way the S-02's are gonna last 25K miles. But I suppose depending on one's driving they could. Here's a sample of winning street tires from recent national and regional auto-x. Any of these will outperform 90% of street tires.

Falken ST115, RT215, RT615, FK451
Kumho MX
Bridgestone KD, S02, S03, RE010, KDW
Yokohama A520, AVS Int

im considering the kumho mx because they are so inexpensive, but as for the falkens, which one do you guys think is best out of the 4-5 listed? I'm sort of on a budget so i cant be spending hundreds on a single tire. thanks in advance

Um your 1st post and this 15th post are contradictary in nature. You wanted the "best dry performance tire". Now you want cheap tires. You should have really told everyone this in the first post. More like ""what are some cheap tires that are adequate and will last 25k? I live in Ca so snow and rain aren't as big of an issue.""

WTF?? Last friday, you were asking about these tires. How in the hell do you know how they perform? Much less recommend them to anyone. Are they installed on your imaginary Supra?

Honestly.

No street tire has a chance against 984hp.

None.

I too saw the Goodrich add on the mags claiming the "world record" ETs for imports and domestics. If the add says so, it must be true...

Back to topic. You want a great dry tire that's sticky, lasts 30K miles and is cheap? There are lots of trade offs in tire design, and usually, traction and wear are inversely proportional.

yeah sorry for the best/cheap combo, thing is i can spend money but if i dont have to well you get the point, if performance is negligable then its not worth it for me at least to spend an extra 400 on tires. but anyhow i just need a very good tire thatll last 25k as i stated earlier, and im asking now if kumho mx tires are good and also the falkens. Major point being the treadwear. I dont know if im asking too much from a tire but worth a shot.

toyo proxes definitely, for great dry traction! i've gone thru kumho's,nitto's and toyo's and i must say toyo's have outperformed the other tires i have had! buddy of mine has 22inch wheels w/toyo's on his durango r/t , and he leaves a very nice patch and makes a nice cloud of smoke! (i do not recommend using your toyo's for burn outs but that is totally up to you) but very sticky tires though, they can grip very well! oh and they last longer too!

I cant speak for all these tires but i can damn sure speak for falkens. First let me clear up some confusion the rt615 tire will be replacing the azenis sport tire and not the st115 tire.

azenis st115 tread wear 360- Good over all tire gives up a little bit in terms of stickyness hence the higher tread rating. This is also in my opinon the most quiet tire falken makes.

FK451 tread wear 280- This tire is good all around and put down faster lap times than the azenis sports at the mazda rev it up track day. The Traction rating on this tire is AA and can perform better than most on wet and dry surfaces.

finally the azenis rt615 tire tread wear 200- in my unbiased opinion this tire is a beast,we did some early testing on our g35 and was surprised on how well they held up. We are gearing a shoot out with the yokohama advan and bridgestone potenza tires. It is the exact same tire that is being sold in Falken Japan. It also has a stiffer side wall than the rt215 and is an asymmetrical design with two water channels for better wet traction also.

uhh thats the end of my rant sorry about that..

damn i love this forum, everyone is so cool about helping, but anyhow what will the price range be for 235/40/18 (falken rt615) ive read that its okay to run 235 on a 7.5 wide rim, so if it is ill run that but if not ill do 225s.

by the way, any maxima/i30 owners in the san fernando valley area? ive yet to see an org sticker on maximas around here. which reminds me i should get a couple stickers for myself

By the way, the rims im using are going to be the Volk GTP look a likes made by R-1, i know i know but i got them for a pretty good deal except it has VISA tires on them.

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.

we dont have a price breakdown for the 615 series yet and we dont offer retail pricing. I suggest going to any falken retail store in early feb to get an idea of prices i see you stay in santa barbara so you can go to any Sears auto center, Big o tire, Discount tire or america tire.

let me know if i can help you with any thing else.

yea it looks like im going to wait till mid feb because most of the time falken tires arent too expensive, and the tread pattern looks very unique, something you dont see everyday. Is it definite that itll come out in mid feb?

so i guess falken's get a lot of the votes. but between the FK 451's and the st115, which tires would people prefer in terms of dry stickyness? they are about the same price according to my research.
