Yeah, it's hot. Candy Apple Red. Depends on who you are and what you've driven before. One of my cars used to be a Neon on 18's with spacers. No ride could be worse than that, unless you have no suspension. Also, it's great that our Maximas/I30's are geared towards luxury, which is why I don't think 20's would diminish the ride that much honestly in my eyes from what I rode in before, especially if you plan on gettin 19's. My biggest fear would be any rubbin issues on 20's with a low drop. If you kept H-Techs or H&R's or maybe even Eibachs on a set of Illuminas, you'd be good to go with the right offset.

For example, to show how good our cars must be made. This one kid I know got stock suspension on the Chrysler 300C with 20's and my man in the BX is dropped on H-Techs on 19's with a 345/40 and it's a better ride hands down.

I'll put it this way. Let me break it down into 2 parts. If you don't care if your ride is not as soft as it was stock then go big, but if you do care then stay 17-below. If you thinkin of goin with chrome rims then go with 20's cuz that's where you'll find all the good designs, if not chrome then go with 19's and go with a 245/40/19 series tire instead of 245/35. You'll love that extra cushion, I'm tellin you. Well atleast I do in my man's Max up in the Bronx, which is why that's what I'll be gettin come Spring time except I'll be on H&R's.

You're 100% right. I wouldn't do it on a Max neither. IMO you need a little more class. I like Maxes and they're nice, but they ain't even as classy as an I30 nevermind a Caddy, Lex or Benz.

lol some of u guys are funny when it comes to putting dubs on a max but yet alot of u guys rather put ricer fart cans instead, dont u think thats ugly?? IMO i think it looks good with a decent drop. a 4x4 max on dubs looks ehh.

Yeah 4x4 on 20's = The Worst. The day somebody puts a fart can on a Max or any car with 20's or above should be shot. That's like puttin a Supra Style Spoiler on an S Class.

PS: Nice rear end 97Max2NV. I'm lovin just the Nissan Burger and also no spoiler. Looks real sleek. I have yet to see a Max with just that, and to be honest I think that's the hottest rear end on a Max I've seen yet.

It's your car, and you do what you want with it. But if you come back and post it here on the org, you'll get some ...constructive criticizm.

I was thinking about getting a spinning rim myself...I wouldn't be able to afford all 4, so i would just get one...

a max w/ 20" wheels on it will be very very slow and sluggish

i recommend 18" w/o a lip or 19" with a lip for the 4th gen

also no chrome

and i put 245/40 tires on w/ my 18s and it gives a much better ride than cars i've been in w/ 225 or 235 size tires

there wont be a ride diffrance between 19s and 20s, i will be crap either way.
and if he wants chrome let him get chrome, i think your rims are ugly and funny lookin but im not saying anything.

I bet there is about 20 maximas on this forums with evo's and a still lip kit, why would you want the same thing?

from experience i meant:

any rim less than 18" is too small
19" with no lip is o.k/ 19" with lip makes the rims look like 18" rims
20" with no lip look like shiet huge (rolling on hubs)
20" with 3.5-4" lip is perfect. looks great. (rolling on dubs)

slow? anytime you put anything bigger than 18" you sure to slow the car.......all show no go

feel? 19" or 20 " it feels the same/ when you hit a pothole, it's the same 35 profile going into the hole.

i say go with the 20" tires are cheaper

Nothing wrong with 20's. Looks sick on a 6th gen, pretty good on a 5th gen, and decent on a 4th gen. However, your ride's gotta be SLAMMED. Oh, and if you're gonna get some ugly and/or cheapazz rims, you might as well stay stock.

1HOTMAX: So whatchu got, 18's or 20's. You needa get rid of that Spoiler. It's killin the classy look of the rims.

Also, so 20's with S-Techs would look good, but 20's with H&R's or H-Techs would be too big/high? So far I've been set on 19's with H&R's on a 245/40 instead of 35.

hmmm im in the same boat i dont know if i should get 19's or 20's since money is no issue since the rims are free. I personally have been through alot of rims in my time with my old maxima, ive had everything from volks to MMevo's. Im personally done with the tuning side of a maxima and want to keep it basically stock with rims and a nice drop so im confused on which to roll with...

I am getting some 20X8.5" wheels for my car. They come in an offset of 38. I will be running a 245/35/20 tire. I am on jic coilovers. I want to sit the car right on top of the fenders. Will a 38 offset be ok(rubbing etc)? They can shave them down to 42 offset but it will coat 25 more per wheel. Which one should i go with..thanks...

I agree with the 19" wheels look like 18" now that I have them. I personally haven't noticed a big difference in ride between the stocks with 235/45-17 BFGoodrich gForce KDWS and the new wheels with 245/35-19 Dunlop Direzza tires. Just my .02 cents.

I just don't feel it, the 20's on a 4th gen maxima just does not look appealing. Looks like a Tonka Truck or something. Even on the 5th gen (Even I35 model) does not look right with dubs. I'd say go with 19's with a .38 offset and a lip, sure it looks smaller due to the lip, but once you add a more aggressive drop, the car will have a real sweet setup.

That is completely rediculous. 19" wheels on 4th and 5th gens is the max. Period. 20's on the 6th Gen is ok, but those are just horrible.

can we start a anti dub/rice club? i think the org members opionions really matter to these newbs. and we do have higher standards than hideous hondas. by us telling the newbs whats rice and what not to get. i mean people who put tacky stuff on their cars makes the rest of the maxima owners look bad, i dont want to be catagorized as a another rice/ghettofied car. i want people to know that a maxima is a respectable spots sedan, thats one of the main reasons why i didnt get a altima, people ghettofy those cars like crazy, chrome ugly weired pattern rims, blue bulbs, stickers, colored tints, fart cans, christmas lights....list goes on. does anyone agree?

I love 20"s, 22"s, 24"s, even 26"s..... and spinners.

ON: Tahoes, Escalades, Suburbans, Silverados, Box Chevy, and old Bruicks

Most Cars should not be allowed to have more than 19"s.

Bigger isn't always better.
