Wanli Tires??
I have talked to two guys that have Wanli 1099s (they are the ones like a fake Yokohama AVS Sport). Both drivers like them a lot and said they hold the road better than previous tires. One guy has a newer GTI and had whatever came stock and just put the Wanlis on the stock rims. His car is lowered, intake, exhaust. Nothing too extraordinary. The other guy is a ricer with a Honda Civic Coupe. I am not sure of all the mods, but he said it ran high 14s. He said he likes the Wanlis better than the Toyo Proxes FZ4s he had on there before.
Both guys have fairly new tires and Wanli have only been sold at Les Schwab here for a year or so. Neither one of them expected the Wanlis to last long, since they have a low tread wear and are Z rated. I don't know anyone that has the newer Wanli 1088, but they look a little less aggressive.
I was thinking about buying some and that's why I asked when I saw these guys with them.
For those of you posting that the tires are crap and whatnot, it would be nice to find an explanation, personal experience or tire reviews by actual owners. I am not saying I think these tires are great (I still don't know either way), but I have actually talked to some people with them on their cars. Just because they are new and inexpensive doesn't always mean they are unsafe. Not too long ago, no one in the US knew much about Kumho tires and now they are respected and used quite frequently. I think Kumho and potentially Wanli are pefectly acceptable compromises if you want better performance than all-seasons at a cheaper price. As with any Z-rated tire, you should expect less miles out of them. Probably 20-30k.

They are a brand new company with no rep, iv read about 3 cases were people got bubbles on the tieres, and iv read about people that ruined theri rims because the tires have a weak sidewall.
Do you see any big tire places like tirerack or tires.com selling them, no cause the tires are crap and not trusted. Only ebay seller that dont have to give you any warrenty.

Wanli tires are not just on ebay, btw. They are carried by Les Schwab Tires, which is the largest independent tire dealer in the country and a billion dollar tire store chain. They have a full written warranty on all tires sold there and are recognized by JD Power as having the best customer service of any tire retailer in the country. This is why I was considering buying the Wanlis because they have them at Les Schwab. Just a month ago, Schwab replaced one of the snow tires I bought there last year (tires have about 5k miles on them) for free. Nothing serious, but it had a slow leak. Apparently there was a slight defect in the bead. Excellent customer service and I am sure if the Wanlis had any problems they would be replaced or my money refunded if I wasn't happy with them.
i dont think theyhave les schwab in CT cause i never heard of it...
I remebe some member on the org bought them and got a bubble, he couldnt get in contact with any one about warrenty info, then wanali told him to go to the seller but he got them off ebay.....

That sucks. A company that doesn't back their product isn't going to cut it for me.
I think think Les Schwab is only on the west coast. Washington, California, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, etc. I was just saying that they are a huge company and warranty all of their stuff. Both the people I mentioned in my first post bought them at Schwab.

I have had them (S-1099 in 235/40/18) going on two years now and no problems at all and they do not wear too fast either. They out perform my previous tires easily, especially in the rain. I'm going to buy them again in 245/35/19 when I get new rims. As for bubbling, I doubt it since I've hit some potholes at high speeds and no bubbles or rim damage. They seem to have the same rim protector bar as the Yokohama AVS Sport.
thanx for all the input, anyway i decided NOT to get them, i live in Brooklyn so i need GOOD tires that would last me long, plus i got 19's, so i decided to get some Toyo Proxes, 245/35/19, thanx for everything
I have Wanli 1088's 245/35/20, and i am about to take them off because the inside side wall has cracks in it, and i dont want them to blow out on me.. It sounds so me like they are a hit and miss kinda tire, cause some people like them and some hate them, some have had problems and some have not... my cousin had 245/35/20's and his side wall did the same thing... he went with Nitto's
I have Wanli's and I can vouche for them. DO NOT get them.
They ride nice and their treadlife is really well.
But as far as handling they suck. Ive gone around corners at medium speeds and I could feel and hear them breaking loose.
Now, Ive noticed their sidewalls are splitting.
I read a thread in the past regarding Goodyear RSA's having the same issues and from the pics I saw of them, they looked identical to mine.
So, I have tried contacting somebody from Wanli with no luck.
Ive tried contacting this monkey with no luck since he is the major distributer of these tires... 'tim@ztire.com'
http://www.ztire.com/wanli.htm
I also contacted the place where I purchased them from. They were part of a wheel and tire package and they couldnt offer any help neither.
They told me all they had was the same contact info that I already had.
They did however offer to sell me new tires, sorry d#ckheads!
Anyway, I would suggest anyone to stay clear of them
I have a buddy who is cutting me a deal on four BF Goodrich G force Sports for a bill a piece and everything Ive read on them seems to be pretty good.

Wanli's
Just wanted to add my two cents about Wanli's. Just replaced two tires a week ago with Wanli 225/40/18's and my car shakes like the wheels are going to fall off. I bought them at Les Schwab for a $147 each. I've had the tires re-balanced three times and I'm still having problems. I am trying to figure out why Les Schwab, a well respected tire business, is selling problem tires. I planned to pay the extra $40 for the Toyo Proxes next time.

Sorry to say it, but you got ripped. The tires are crap and you can normaly get them for a bill a piece.
Whats worse, is they claim to be Z rated. Yikes!
