kumho ECSTA ASX 16s
2k2 max SE
i just purchased lightweight 16s for my car, and i've been researching some tires.. I went to American Tire Co. to check out prices on a few brands i've been looking at (Toyo, Pirelli, Nitto). i gave him my tire size (225/55R16) and i mentioned the brands i've been looking at... he immediately said that the Kumho ASX's are great... highly recommending their wet/dry traction and their tread life. He also said the other brands i was mentioning didnt' have as long of tread life as the Kumho's.
I mentioned that Kumho's don't have the best of reputations, and he said that this particular model is especially good. and he quoted me $105 a piece (including balance, mount, warranty, etc) What do you guys think?
Like most people, i'm looking for a good, cheap, sticky, long lasting tire. Are these Kumho's the way to go?

just go to tirerack.com and get tires from them, in your size probably 60-80/tire and 40 shipping and no tax...
also, try TSW the wheel supply, or discount tires in el monte off of valley and santa anita www.wheeloptions.com
they give good prices as well... if you need them ASAP PM me, I have 4 cars needing new tires... so maybe we can get a good price if we go in together

YES. I've got the ASX on my car and I love them. has them about 10,000 miles now and they're just barely showing wear.
I use them for street use only, but I was at the track last month and corded my race slicks.. put my street wheels back on (with the ASX), and was within 2 sec per lap of my time on the slicks.
you lose some ultimate traction compared to a Max perf summer tire, but the ASX are great for a long lasting all-season tire.
they also stick very well in the rain. can't comment on snow since I live in Houston.
