Opinions needed on Ultra High-Performance Summer tires!

For dry and wet traction (no snow traction needed), and good treadwear:

- Kumho Ecsta MX
- Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
- Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
- Bridgestone S-03
- Toyo Proxes T1-S

I've somehow got it in me that the Pilot Sport PS2s are the best. Any thoughts??

Well cut out the Kumho MX for one. They are all season tires.

Are you sure? http://www.kumhotire.ca/tires/detail...at=7&ptn=KU-15 (the US site is down).

Edit: In this order and if money were no object, I'd consider the Pilot Sport PS2, Ecsalto PE2 and the B'stone S-03. The T1-S would be a good inexpensive (in comparison) choice too.

Yeah, the Proxes T1-S comes up frequently as a cheaper alternative, but what's the catch? It can't be as good as the PS2s or the S-03s....?

dry grip ... I think the MX wins followed by the S-03
wet grip.... S-03 then T1-S ... although the MXs are not bad in the rain but big tread blocks give up some grip in the wet
Tread wear .... 712s or the PS2s
best bang for the buck is the MXs.... great dry grip.... good wet performance... lifespan depends how you drive.... I got 2,000 miles and 15 track/autox events out of my last set..... S-03s would be my next choice ... great tire but not great enough to justify the money diff for me.....

My tire guy is reccomending the T1-S. He says he usually gets them balanced better due to a better quality control at the factory. Compared to the Goodyear GS-D3 (may have the model # wrong there).

If money isn't a problem....Pilot Spot PS2s or Potenza S-03s.....Michelin's are rated #1 at tirerack as far as MAX performance summer tires go.....and Bridgestone being #3....So you can't go wrong with dry/wet/noise ratings....The Pilot Sports PS2 weighs 4lbs LESS than the Potenzas in the same size....so you decide which tire is right for you as far as how light u want your rim/tire combo to be...

If your on a budget, Toyo Proxes T1-s is a good alternative....I heard great reviews about this tire by alot of people.....and they are lightweight as well.....the Kumho MX is another budget tire....

honestly, I wouldn't even bother with the Ecsta 712s.....its not even a MAX performance summer tire....and the reviews at tire rack don't please me compared to the other tires....
