im wondering how you guys feel about these..they look like the hp evos but in black..i kinda like them..and also how come most websites recommend 235 not 245 for an 8 inch wide rim?

edit: also will a +40mm off set looks nice and flush or no?

tell you the truth, i think they would look good, but only on a dark color car.

I have the AR1's although they're of the silver variant. Awesome rims, it's a step up from the run-of-the-mill cast rim and offers near forged strength for a lower price.

One thing about the lip is they look polished on Tirerack's site but they're not shiny like that of the EVO's. Something to consider. (Unless of course the black one is different).

I've got 17x8 +35, 235/45. Fronts are flush but the back could benefit from a little pushing out.

I'm sorry i don't have better pictures but this will show you what i mean. If i clean it up, it comes out shinier - but don't expect it to look like a mirror finish similar to the Evo.

they look ok. Run 235s and find out if ASA offer 35mm offset for those

ASA AR1 Offsets: 17x7 = 38mm. 17x8 = 35mm. 18x8 = 35mm. 19x8.5 = 40mm

I've considered the AR1's for my car, but didn't go w/them 'cause of cost and they look like a pain to clean. I think the black wheel w/polished lip on a black car looks mean. If that's the look you want, go for it.

I like the look (and I have hyper-silver HP EVO's)

I'm running 245x40x18 on them (8 inch width) with 38 offset. The fronts are flush with the fender and the rears are just a tad bit inside, but not much. I thought of adding a small spacer to the rears, but I'm going to be getting coilovers soon and lowering it another inch. With the spacers, I think the rears would rub.

I went with the 245x40 because that was the closest in diameter to the OEM rims and tires.

I like the ASAs, but I was also looking at another black w/polished lip wheel, the Axis Seven Mod. They're at wheelnext, here. Unfortunately, I have never seen a pic of them on a 4th gen, so I can't really gauge how good they would look, so if anyone has a pic, please post it. Thanks.

I like the look of AR1's but just like with the Evo's there's one problem - they're too heavy.

It's not too bad. My AR1's are about 3lbs. lighter per wheel over the OEM's. And i gained 1" width to boot!
