tire drone?

got a 2k se with 52 on the clock with brand new tires brakes and cut rotors and there is a audible noise when going slow[under35] that sounds like tire drone but im not sure. it was inspected and nuthinb about wheel bearings was mentioned. i had this car since 35k and it did not do it with the prior tires. and i have had a road force done and they are all 0.00 so its not balancing. wondering if wheel baering might sing this way?

I had a bearing problem, drivers side front.
Going around exit ramps can take pressure off 1 side and the noise goes away . Thats how I knew. good luck

nah dont think it goes away like that. car is pretty quiet and rattle free due to my obsesiveness and tsb rattle fixes. i have mohawk predator vrs tires in 234/45/17 on stock rims. these are directional and dont shimmy shake wobble at all. im just striving for perfection with what i have and im stuck on stupid with this.wouldnt a wheel bearing cause handeling problems or issues?

Ihave Nitto 450"s and they are pretty noisy. The sound was different when Ihad a bad wheel brg. A sort of growl for the wheel brg. and a whine for the tire noise.

Yes, get new tires. I have the same tires you do and they are loud as heck when you're going at low speeds. Irish44J and others who've had the same tires can confirm that the 512s have a lot of road noise, even with minimal tread wear (I've only had mine for less than 5k miles).

various tires are louder than others, that's just how it is...
My potenzas (OEM) were mid-loud
The 512's were quite loud at lower speeds
My current Toyo Proxes 4 are very quiet except for this kind of "whirring" sound

nothing you can do about it (besides changing tires)...

I barely have 5k on my Falkens and I'm starting to hear a faint whine myself, like driving over a concrete bridge or steel grates, when I'm actually driving on smooth asphalt. I too thought it was the wheel bearing at first, but those checked out fine. I wonder if the noise issue is akin to cupping. My dad had a really nasty case on his car. It was like driving on rumble strips all the time! Will rotating the tires more frequently help? I wonder if this will be covered under road hazard warranties....maybe if the noise gets to bad that I go psycho and slash my own tires. j/k

I had the same thing with the Sumo HTR+. Love the tires but that annoying whine was really noticeable. Thought I could live with it, but after a month I swapped them out. I changed them out with the Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE. Nice and quiet now.

I too think its all in the tread of the tire. I had GY RS-A OEM tires, 245/45/18, and after 25-30k they droned and sounded like the car was getting old or something. I put on new GY F1 DS-3 and the car is now quieter and smoother than ever before. I did not pay retail because my RS-A's split at the sidewalls and I got a credit. It shows that you get what you pay for with tires sometimes. They wear great too.

It sounds like this is a tires thread. Methinks it should be moved.

So it sounds like a pretty common problem with many different tires. And it sounds like the only solution is to get new tires. That sucks. I don't want to be replacing my tires every couple years. Oddly, my Potenzas never made any noise even after 20k mi., yet my Falkens are making noise at 5k. If it wasn't for getting a puncture in one tire and the poor traction of the Potenzas, I'd probably still be riding on them in quiet bliss. Sucks.

rotate the tires and see if the noise moves, or changes. and road force is measures in lbs, and is almost never 0.

yea... i have been checking my tires a lot and have found that the tires have cupping on the outside tread. i have been rotating my tires every 6000 miles and it seems to happen only on the front tires which is where i hear noises when i turn.... does this mean i should get a allignment??
