wheels driving ?

Guys I just bought 17" wheels and tires. When I am driving I get a sound like an airplane when I slow down. Any idea what it could be? Thanks in advance !!!

I guarantee it's your front pads. When my were worn and I was stopping from decent speeds, they would sound like the sound you described or like a table saw winding down. I replaced mine with a set of Bosch ceramics. They are great although no one else on the org seems to have them because they all seem to want to pay for the 'name' brands. The Bosch's don't dust a lot, are quiet and stop very well. I'll be surprised if it isn't your pads being worn.

Does the noise happen only when you brake? If so, Doc's on the right path, but since you mention new tires and wheels, I'm going to say that you probably can hear tire noise at low speeds, whether braking or not. What kind of tires and is the tread pattern "V" shaped?

My snow tires set (Dunlop Winter Sport M3s) make a raspy, jet-like noise when the pavement (concrete more so than asphalt) is damp. I can mostly hear it slowing down and accelerating from low speeds, which first made me believe one of my coils were beginnig to go, but eventually figured out it was just the tires. My new summer tires set (Fuzion ZRi) is also pretty noisy (makes a "wurl" sound) at low speeds (the wind noise masks at it at higher speeds).

EDIT: Also, if the tires are directional, make sure they are turning in the right direction. You'd be surprised how many people don't realize their tires are mounted wrong.

It's just band and wind noise coming off the tread.

Or........his Maxima came with the jet engine option offered only in his year. It was a fairly costly upgrade but supposedly is very explosive out of the chute. I hope he has the front end splitter to keep his wheels on the road as the jet option tends to make the car rise.

I have the same pads as you do. Just put them on like 2 days ago. I'm satisfied so far with the product.
I had some Australian brand almost for $100 before this and it stopped exactly the same.

Cool, someone who finally has something in common with my brakes and me. I like them quite well. And they aren't extremely expensive.
