By all accounts the FZ4 doesn't even compare with the Proxes 4. Why buy a discontinued tire anyways? Get two Proxes 4 this time and in the near future the other 2.

The FZ4 is no longer made by Toyo (they were just dropped by Toyo, so I'm sure there's still lots of stock left. most people who had the FZ4s hated them). It was replaced by the "Proxes 4" (no FZ). The tread pattern is completely different (the Proxes 4 have two "boomerang"-like rows of grooves along the tread, while the FZ4s had a kind of "vee" tread pattern).

My thought is keep the best two FZ4s, and get two of newer Proxes 4 then replace the older FZ4s at a later time.

thanks for the info i didnt know this. but since these tires are fairly new i will just get one. they are strictly for the colder weather which i dont stress them out. but in less than a month or two my real babies will go back on for the heavy driving. thanks.

Dude, those are not "variants." If you refer to the T1-S, that is a summer tire.
