Falken Vs. Fuzion, which to buy?

well, the time has come to order tires for my wheels. Im not going all out, so i checked tires.com and tirerack.com, and narrowed it down to 2 of their cheaper tires. Either the Fuzion ZRi (Bridgestone) or the Falken GR Beta FK-451. Im tryin to find revies of the Falken now, but based on what ive read about the Fuzion on tirerack, as well as Don having them and giving me his personal opinion, im leaning toward those unless someone can give me some good info/feedback/reviews on the Falken. any info is helpful guys, thanks a lot.

Yeah, the reviews (on Tirerack) for the Fuzion are pretty good. I spoke to one of my customers, and they said that the tires were pretty good for the $$$ and he'd definately buy them again. I'm not sure on those Falken's though.

I've had the Zris on for about 2000 miles with no noticeable wear (but I haven't measured). Excellent dry and wet grip, steering response and stability, and hydroplaning resistence (yesterday was the real test here in Chicago). On the down side, they are very noisy at lower speeds and will grab every rut or crack on the pavement. I also feel that the rolling resistence is pretty high compared to the crapenzas, lousy 512s and Dunlop M3 snow sets I've had on my car.

For the money, a decent summer tire, but I may shop and see what else is out there when the time comes.

My Falken 115s were sticky but tread life could have been better. I've heard 451s are just as sticky and have better tread life

I'd go with the Falken 451. I've seen those Fuzion tires, and the sidewall looks really weak...like it wouldn't be stiff/strong enough for a low-pro tire...

I am the first one to criticize weak sidewalls in tires (I hated every one of the 3300 miles I endured with the real weak sidewalled Falken 512s). I can attest that the Fuzion ZRi's sidewalls are anything but weak. The steering in my car is sharp and stability in quick lane shifts is excellent.

I have 235/40/18 Fuzion ZRi's and they are similar to the Re730's that I had before...not bad at all. The ZRi's are a very good tire for the price. They are relatively quiet on the freeway, too.

quiet on the highway is important, because thats where i am all the time, anywhere i need to go is on the highway. i think i am gonna end up getting the Fuzion, pretty much based on all the personal experiences you guys have had.

I have had some GRB FK451s on my car for a while. They are great, especially for the price. The wear isn't great but i waited for a while until I got an alignment and it got a lot better after it as my car was pretty bad out of spec. The sidewalls seem to be pretty strong too. I am running 225/50/16 BTW. The wet traction is really good too.

I really can't be the best reviewer since these are my first set of good "performance" tires. Everything else I have ever had were complete garbage. I really wasn't sure what kind of tires to get either when I bought there, but I am happy with them.

They do have some highway noise. It is not terrible but you will hear it if you don't have the radio on, etc.

Definately loved the Fuzions on my SSRs especially for the price. That is until I sold the wheels...

Casey, I can send you to my tireguy if youd like, hes in Berkley Heights, which is a bit closer to you. Nice 30 'roadtest' with them and a pretty good warranty as well...
