Reccomendation on 215/60R15 tires?

Im looking at the Falken 512's, Nitto 460's, and the Yokohama Avid H4S. These will be driven on the highway mostly and need all seasons because winters here can get pretty icy. I want to keep the price under $300 shipped.

I went through 10 pages on this forum and the general consensus is that the Falken 512's are good but tire life is ridiculous at 30k. Tried to look up the Toyo Proxy 4's (i think thats the name) but they dont make it for my stock size rim (205/65R15). tia

Not sure how to show Showthread. I had a lengthy discussion a couple of weeks ago with another guy who needs 215-60R-15 tires. We both were debating either: Yokohama Avid H4S or BF Goodrich Traction TAs.

Look into the BF Goodrich Traction TAs if winter driving is a concern - #1 rated by tirerack.

Thanks for the link about the RE590's. When compared to the BF Goodrich Traction TAs, its a better tire and cheaper (from reviews).

I think you mean RE950s, not RE590s. The RE950s are rated 6th by tirerack. They are not rated higher than the Traction TAs in any of the 9 categories summarized on the survey. The top 3 ratings for high-performance all-season tires went to: BF Goodrich Traction TA (H-rated), Yokohama Avid V4S and Yokohama Avid H4S. Tirerack's pricing on the BF Goodrich is $60 per tire and the RE950s pricing is $90 per tire. The 4th place ranking went to the BF Goodrich Traction TA with V rating.

Just read my post and I didnt type what I meant.

I meant the BFG Traction T/A's came out on top from the surveys and ill be getting those. I called a few places this morning to get prices and Sears Auto Center will price match Sam's Club ($73.78) and beat them by 10%.

Good choice. Costco here had a sale on them but it ended May 15th. I am still waffling between the Yokohama Avid H4S and BF Goodrich Traction TAs. Ice and snow isn't a concern for me, but rainy weather is. The Traction TAs are superior to the Yokohamas in handling and traction under all conditions, whereas the Avid H4S are lighter (4 lbs/tire), quieter and provide a more comfortable ride.

For my driving style and purposes its a virtual coin toss. I won't need the tires for about another 6K which for me won't be until the winter or next spring.

I'm still running the OEM Goodyear Eagle RSAs with 58,427 mostly highway miles on them. I know they have been flamed repeatedly, but they're wearing like steel.

If you look at the ratings and don't count snow traction, the RE950 is the best tires.

Dont know where youre getting the ratings from but the Traction T/A's are rated a little better than the Potenza RE950.

BFG on top. Bridgestone on bottom.

I have the Yokohama Avids on the Stock sawblades and they're pretty good. Not sure which kind of Avids they are though.

Just read the sidewall, they are either V-rated of H-rated. I suspect they are H-rated and will outlast the V-rated tires, which would likely be somewhat softer.

My point was that if you take out the snow rating, the only lower rating on the Potenza's, the total rating goes way up.

I think I know what youre saying, but not really. If you took out the snow rating on both, the BFG's are still rated a little bit higher than the Potenza's and not to mention that the Potenza's are ~$18 more per tire.

As I stated above, the Potenzas are not rated above the BF Goodrich Traction TAs in any of the 9 categories and they cost considerably more. Continuing to justify the supposed superiority of the RE950s is an exercise in futility.
