new tires

alright, so i just got some new Falken 512's and WHOA what a difference....the overall feel of the car is SO much better, especially in wet weather (on my craptenzas at 37K, it was a rare moment when my tires didn't spin when starting in 1st during wet weather, and now, it's almost hard to GET them to spin)...BUT now my car vibrates really bad at speeds over 50 mph....before it was the smoothest car i had ever been in on the highway (even smoother than my stepmom's Audi A4) but now it's almost jarring at ~70.....i'm taking it back to discount tires where i got them, but what should i ask for? i'm not really familiar with all this, and i would like to know what is causing the problem...thanks in advance everyone!

I would have them ensure they are properly balanced. However, its too bad you bought such crappy tires for such a nice car.

could be tire run-out. a heavy spot on the tire paired with a heavy spot on the rim can cause issues specifically between 50 to 70 mph.

i am having the same issue with new avon tires. i think the vibration can be dealt with by counter-balancing the spot on the rim against the spot on the tire. if this does not work for me i will send the tires back and start again.

these tires are thousands of times better than my former ****enzas! it feels like a new car...i can actually take a turn at more than 30 mph on my road now....lol and the wet weather traction is outstanding...i was going to go for the pilot sports and i almost had the money for them, but then one of my stupid potenzas had a gash in it one morning (not leaking any air yet, but it looked pretty deep) so i had to replace my tires now....

aside from that....so all I would have to do is have them re-balanced? that seems pretty easy to me...i was hoping it wasn't going to be anything difficult...

maxilvr06, I believe the problem you are having is a combination of balancing and the tire itself. There have been multiple people that have complained about this vibration even after having their tires balanced. I have had these tires for over 6 months and have had similiar problems. I just got my tires balanced AGAIN 2 weeks ago and they still vibrate. Hope you enjoy these tires as I can't say the same. Good luck.

As I was saying about the tires! And good luck them lasting any more than 30,000 miles. People shouldn't chintz out on tires ever. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

My condolences. Maybe, just maybe, once you finally balance those pieces of **** tires, you'll then complain about their mushy feeling.

Those tires belong to the geriatrics set driving Grand Marquis and Buicks, not Maximas.

wow, maybe it's just me then, but i think these tires are excellent. I had them balanced today and my car is back to it's 'smooth-riding' self...i think these tires are great, and i'm not too worried about tire life so i dont care about that aspect of it...i swear it feels like a different car though...there is a turn on my road which i couldn't take faster than 30 with my potenzas (i tried it at 40 one night when there was nobody coming and ended up sliding into the other lane) and now i take it at 50 and the car is still sticking...even if i don't get that many miles out of them, for $93 a piece, these tires are excellent...
