Best winter tire recommendation for 215/60R15 size?

I know it's a bit early but was hoping to get recommendations of good winter tires that will fit 15" sawblades. The stock size is 215/60R15.

If you could post the tire type and approximate price and coments, that would be great! Also recommendations as to where to buy. Thanks.

Research tirerack.com under winter tires. Asking fellow .orgers is too subjective. Look at the reviews and rankings based on real-world experience.

Bobo, the opinions on tirerack, 1010tires, epinions and any other site that asks the customers to rate products are just as subjective. I bought the Falken 512s based on the opinions of fellow org memebers as well as those in 1010tires and got burnt badly.

Well, the problem is that tirerack does not come up with ANY winter tires for my size, that's why I posed the q to the .org with my tire size in mind.

Anyways, I called up tirerack and they told me that 205/65R15 is also a perfect fit. Tire rack just doesn't seem to carry that many sizes (on their website).

Back to recommendations ... looking for a tire that will hold up well on dry roads since I do a good amount of highway driving and most of the roads are dry between snowfalls. Good ol' Michigan.

Are you looking for studded tires or studless?

I have a set of studded Cooper Weathermasters that are fantastic. I have never had a single traction problem -- and I live on a steep hill. I also have a set of Signet Winter Trax studded snow tires for my QX4. They are also very good, but don't clear themselves as well as the Coopers on my car. The Signets are also available with the same tread pattern for cars.

Here is what they look like on my last QX4 (notice how they fill with snow):

For studless, I know some people that swear by Nokian snow tires. Around here, lots of people also get Toyo Observe studless tires, but there is a huge dealer in the NW (Les Schwab tires) that mostly carries Toyo products.

If money is no object, look for a Nokian dealer. You shoudn't have a problem finding one in Michigan. Their Hakkapeliitta RSI should be a close fit. They are expensive, by the Finns know about snow tires.
