well i dont know too much about the different sizes of rims that will fit and look good on a 03 maxima. WHat i want to know is what size is good. im looking into 18 or 19. All i know is that our bolt pattern is 5x114 so what width and what offset should i get

u want show? go 19. get anywhere from 8-9" width

u want performance, go 17's and get anywhere from 7-9" width. offest depends on ur rim. im on 19x8 +40

I'd go staggered on the 5.5 gen.

8.5" front 9.5" rear. An offset like +30 would look good, flush with fender.

the prob with staggered is that u cant rotate the tires?? im looking for both performance but more for looks .

also 98mike are your rims all the same size and all the same offset???

Actually most people get staggered setups on FWD for looks

if you dont go staggered on a fwd car for looks especially our maximas, what on earth are you doing it for?? the front tires are th e ones moving and turning the car

A staggered setup on fwd does help with handling. A wider rear wheel than front wheel helps the tail of the car when cornering. It definitely doesn't hurt anything to go staggered on a fwd car.

I'd go with 18's. Look for something 8"-8.5" wide with approximately a +35 offset with 235/40/18 tires. These specs are pretty common with 5th gen guys. Of course they are all "general" specs. You could go wider, with lower offsets, and wider tires, but depending on suspension setups and road conditions, and so on and so forth, you may run into some problems. 18x8, with a +35 offset, with 235/40/18's you should be fine either way!

ok i have no idea where youre pulling this from, but its basic knowledge (i think) that wider tires/rim on the back of a fwd car is going to create understeer, so when you think you are turning youre gonna head straight for a tree/guard rail or whatever. rwd cars with high hp/tq do it for the simple fact that it controls the rear from swinging out so much.

however, if you put wider rims/tires up front on a fwd caryoure gonna create oversteer and could be considered good in some cases like autoX or whatever.

but my point is a staggered setup like you suggest does hurt on a fwd car.
