17x7 rims, what tires?

I am getting Centerline RPM wheels, 17x7, 42mm offset, for my 5th Gen. Looking at http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html it looks like the right size would be 235/45R17, same diameter as stock (16x6.5 rims), but little wider to go with wider wheel. Or is any other size that's better for my rim width?

255/40/17 is way to wide for a 7 wide wheel. 225/45/17 would be your best option. 215/50/17 would also work but 225/45/17 is your better choice. Nice wheel selection by the way.

That's what I'm leaning towards. Thanks.

Can't beat $160 per wheel for a wheel that weighs 13.5 lbs.

OEM size for Maxima 17x7 wheels is 225/50/17, but many run 235/45/17. Anything wider would not be recommended.

225/45/17 is what I run on my 17x7 wheels. The low profile makes it look a tad better than the 50 but that's just my opinion.

I actually was looking for some rims info and came across your post about buying direct from CL. $150 per rim is a good deal! I'm getting them in Pearl Silver.
