Tire Dilemma

I need new A/S tires for the winter and beyond. I am looking at another set of 235/45/17 Falken Zeix 512s or 235/45/17 Pirelli P-zero Nero M+S. They seem comparable in performance with the Pirellis having the edge so I hear. As I understand it the pirellis supposedly last roughly 50% longer, but cost roughly 50% more. However I found an incredible price on 235/55/17 Pirellis. Should I go for the 235/55/17 pirellis? This will be on stock 17s. The 55s are 4.9% bigger in diameter than stock and 6.8% bigger than what I have oo now. Any advice as to which way to go?

Comparing the Pirellis to the Falkens is like comparing a gourmet meal to McDonald's! They aren't even in the same league.

Go for the Pirellis. The Falkens are dogs from what I gather in everything I've read. They have soft sidewalls and don't last worth a d@mn.

Another consideration should be the Toyo Proxes 4.

I am still running the 15" sawblades and the Pirellis and Toyos won't fit my rims.

I recently bought a set of Yokohama Avid H4S at a blowout price and am happy with them.

Since when is mcdonalds not a gourmet meal??? there is alot of threads on this subject and im sure everyone will have their opinions on what they like and dont like. This is an entry level tire so dont expect to go tear up the tskuba circuit any time soon.Just compare these things and go with a tire thats you see fit and is within your budget. Good luck with your search let us know what you come up with.

bgates, do not get the 235/55/17s...they are way off stock dimensions...plus you might get rubbing issues depending on what kind of drop u have...cuz the OD is so huge now...

I personally have the pirellis on my car..i rate them 6 out of 10...i was expecting more out of these tires considering tire rack rates them at #1 in their category....I mean, they give that loose feeling on the highway and they chirp pretty damn easily with straight line acceleration....my old yokohamas never did this

I have the PZero Neros and I love them. Haven't seen snow yet, but they handle the rain and dry pavement very well, just as good as my full-time summer tires I had on before.
