Toyo Proxes 4 - wider than other tires?
Are the Toyo Proxes 4 any wider than other tires in the same tire size? IN other words, do they have a wider footprint compared to same size tires?
I am planning to put them on my Z wheels (17 x 8 x 30mm) and i am looking at 245/45/17 for the rear axle.
I am afraid that IF the Proxes 4 are too wide/oversized they will be rubbing the fender when 245 is used. What do you think? Are they pretty standard or not?
Thanks!

I thought the size of the tire was the width?
(225, 235, 245, etc)
I think if anything, a difference won't be substantial. I am sure they have laws and/or regulations concerning these things. Otherwise, the sizes wouldn't be universal.

Yes that is correct. But a 245 from Toyo might actually be a diff width than a 245 from Michelin. Plus some have rim protectors that put a few mm onto the width also.
If he's running the ragged edge, he might need to know this data. I know when I ran some of my various tires and wheels, some came pretty close to rubbing the rear strut.
I put the 245s and the 8.5" track editions on the rear. Check out the clearance! Or more accurately, the lack of. It still would have worked though.
