Tirerack is running out of SSR Comps and also is going to stop carrying Kosei
May be old news to some but it's new to me. I was under the impression until the other day that Tirerack was just backordered on SSR Comps, but I called them today to confirm what I'd read in a post somewhere about SSR being out of business and thus no more wheels being produced. Called them up and indeed they are bankrupt, and they only had 3 wheels left of the size and offset which I need - 17x7.5" +42mm 5x4.5pcd anthracite with polished lip (I already have 3 of them, one of my four got destroyed in my accident last year). So being as they only have 3 left I decided to pick up my fourth wheel even though I won't need it for months.

from a function view, they are great. Pice... really high and it does not help that that every knock-off company makes a version of thier rims for way cheaper. Yeah they are heavier and they dont "say" SSR on them, but when the SSR's cost $1,500+ for rims alone and the knock-offs cost $600-$800... its hard to ignore.
I would not get the knock-offs myself becuase I am going for performance when I get new rims, but many go for looks alone.
Neal, which rep are you talking to? Last I heard Tanabe was gonna continue production of some SSR's once they figured out the paperwork.
Also, the Kosei makes sense considering TR's own Kazera lineup that's so similar. I just got another couple Kosei's this fall and delivery was only a week including drilling the blanks.

I was talking to Larry at extension 221. I recieved my new wheel today too.
He said that they went bankrupt in January and at this time no one had bailed them out financially and it wasn't looking like production would be starting up again. I hope someone helps them out though. They make some of the best wheels for my money.
I loved my Koseis both the look and the price/weight ratio. I flip flop some days between keeping the SSRs or selling them and trying to procure another set of anthracite K1s. They make a car look mean in my eyes.

Heck, the SSRs were 15lbs lighter - can't beat that.

??? SSR makes lightweight, performance oriented wheels while MKW makes heavy, blingy, cruising oriented wheels. I don't understand how one can narrow their wheels down to those two brands. That's like saying "I narrowed my next vehicle down to either a new lotus Elise, or a 1979 Ford F250 dually pickup truck." They are polar opposites lol.

I am saying farewell to my SSRs. They have treated me well, and vice versa. Nadezhda, enjoy the wheels as much as I have. They are cleaned and ready to ship out.

I cleaned the insides of them for you as well.

Here is also a stamp on the wheels to show that they are authentic SSR.
I have a set of 17x7.5 Kosei K1 rims with a 45 offset available for $675 if anyone is looking. Los Angeles (818) 749-2457
BTW I hope the mods don't get mad that this seems to have turned into a classified thread
I was going to get the Type C's 17x7.5 in anthracite but Tire Rack said they they only had 3 wheels left total and they might be getting more in around March. I opted for the silver Type C's, of which they only had 2 sets left.

Do any of you guys know if they'll be producing the SSR's in gold 18x8? That is, once they transfer the paperwork to the new company.
These are the only wheels I like for my black max.
