245/45/17 tire on 7.5 rim??

I have 17" rims from 350Z on the front axle and they are 7.5 wide. (33 offset)
Due to limited supply of 225/50/17 sized tires, i was wondering if i can safely install 245/45/17 tire on the front?? I am running stock SE suspension.

Ideas? Tire specs DO say that such size (245/45/17) can be installed on anything from 7.5-9, but i want to make sure that i will not be sacrificing safety and handling.

Thanks!

It should not be a problem. A lot of us are running off spec 235/45R17s on the stock 7 inch SE wheels w/out any issues (I push mine). Also, there's someone running 245/45s on the stock SE rim. THAT'S pushing it.

The only thing that concerns me with 235/45/17 is that the wheel gap will look even bigger. I hate that fender gap, yet i cannot lower the car due to my precious extended Nissan warranty. (i don't want to void the warranty by installing custom suspension).

I think those 245's will buldge really bad.

I think that i will go with Bridgestone Turanza LS-V 225-50-17 (stock size) and be safe and happy.
My front Z wheels already seem to stick out a little too much....i can't imagine how the car will look with 245s in the front.

They are definitely in spec and safe. I've been running 245/45/17 also on my 17x7.5 wheels. Not sure if the 33 offset will be a problem though.

that wide on a 7.5" wheel may be within spec, but you will compromise handling for looks, because the sidewall will be angled.

I disagree. I'm running off spec 235/45 in the 7 in rim and it's nowhere near "angled", much less compromising performance. Wear has been even throughout the width of the tires.

Thanks for all the nice responses.

I decided to stay "stock" and installed a pair of brand new Bridgestone Turanza LS-V 225-50-17.

So far, i am very happy with them, especially in rain. Very very stable and grippy + quiet ride.
Hopefully, these tires will age well and they will preserve their grip in wet and dry.

My Michelin Pilot Sport A/S are for sale now.

Regarding 350z rims, will 225/50/17 on the front (17x7.5) and 235/50/17 on the rear (17x8) be okay on my 3rd gen Max? My uncle is going to give me his set because he got new rims, but I was wondering if the tires will fit without rubbing

On my 5.5gen max.... for some reason, with the 235/50/17 tires, the rear wheel was rubbing a little when the car was loaded and going over bumps. I had to drimmel out a small piece of the fender mount to free up some more room.
Now, with the 245/45/17 tires, i have zero problems with rubbing and etc.

do you have a reason why you would do this? considering that the rim can take both - please elaborate

Hmm... Do you happen to know how big of a difference the 5.5 gen and the 3rd gen is? (i.e. would it rub more, less, etc.)

I have that on OEM Nissan 350Z rear wheels. (17 x 8 with 30mm offset)
I would not put 245/45/17 on 17 x 7 wheel
