Will a 34MM offset fit?

Hi,

I am going to get some new 20 inch shoes on my Max tommorow. The flipside is that the shop informed me that they only come in a 34 MM offset, which sounds kind of weird since i normally see 35 mm, 40 mm etc. Anyway, do you think I would be OK with a 34 MM? Or is it pushing it?

These are the wheels

Thanks!

They may fit. The problem is going to be the bracket holding the front calipers. I would have them to test-fit one on the front before they mount the tires.

They have an offset of 42. The design of the back of the wheel is going to make all the difference.

I am really curious if those rims will fit your car. I love the look of them, and was looking at those exact rims for my Magnum before I finally settled on TSW Zandvoorts, but was skeptical those spokes of the N5's would clear its ginormous front calipers. Then I thought, maybe I'll try them on the wife's Maxima instead.... But the Maxima's calipers are almost as big as the Magnum's, so I'm pretty skeptical.... Assuming it clears the calipers, that offset will push your rim edge about 20mm further out than stock, which IMO is about perfect, but increasing the chance of rubbing the front tire with the wheel turned, going up curbs, etc. Let us know how that works out too.

I run 18x8 with a 30mm offset in the summer (in a 5th gen). They fit no problem, with no rubbing on 235/40/18 rubber. 6th gens have more room in the wheel wells than the 5th gens. you should have no problem, as long as you keep the overall diameter stock (i.e. GET THE RIGHT SIZE TIRES!)

btw, I have 6th gen rotors and calipers on my car, and they clear easily.

The spokes on your wheels stay at the edge of the wheel, so there's no danger of them interfering with the caliper. The N5's spokes that he's getting curve inward to form that nice big lip, so the possibility of hitting the caliper is VERY real. You can't just automatically assume that it will fit just because it's a 20". Stock wheels on my Magnum are 18". I couldn't fit Foose Nitrous 20" because of this exact reason.

I'm not automatically assuming anything, I'm simply stating that my 18s fit. (my G35 17's and 5Zigen 17's also clear my 6th gen brakes)....

all I can talk about is what I know. All you can talk about is what you know. If he wants to buy wheels that are 3+" thicker inside around the inner rim.....that's the chance he takes.

My only question is "why?"

You are right... 40mm was cutting too close. I ended up going with the 34mm and they fit... like a glove. I will post pics soon!

Very nice! Is your suspension stock? It looks lowered. Are you having any rubbing at all? What size tires... 255/35 ?

Thanks, I lowered the suspension with the Cattman/Progress setup, which I like very much. The tires are 245/35/20 Pirelli Assimetrico Z rated. No rubbing whatsoever, although I havent had the car full of people yet so I dont know for sure yet...
