-1.5 camber okay for tire wear?

The stock maxima lists anywhere from positive 0.5 to negative 1.0 camber WITHIN SPEC...

My current wheels are 42mm offset with a camber of negative 0.5....I might be getting lower offset wheels in the future...maybe in the ballpark of 35-40....will adjusting the camber to negative 1.5 allow me to get more clearance between the outside fender and the tire sidewall? I don't wanna rub during cornering which is why I asked...I heard somewhere that you can go half a degree of negative camber OVER stock and still get away with decent tire wear...anybody have experience with this? Also hows the toe in/out with the negative 1.5 camber?

I would say that would be the absolute limit for any type of decent tire wear. But you WILL notice the inners wearing about 30% faster then the outer. You had better make sure the toe is on as that will affect tire life also.

thanks for the prompt reply jeff...my main concern is the rubbing...I hear putting some negative camber will allow the tire to angle so it has slightly more clearance from the fender when taking turns....and if I do go with a lower offset wheel, I might wanna bump up the negative camber u know?

If i asked discount tire to put my camber at negative 1-1.5...is there a possibility that my toe cannot be put back into place? Just askin, becuz there was this guy I talked too a long time ago...he said the alignment shop couldn't bring his toe back into place sayin some **** like, "my tie rod jam nut was maxed out"

I'd consider rolling the fenders before screwing up my aligment just so I could run some different offsets. Drift move

I found this article that relates to your inquiry. Includes other things also.

That could happen especially with LTB's that put pressure on the whole thing. If you do run out of toe adjustment just back down the camber a bit more positive. Keep your toe negative or even to hold down the wear. I'm running -2.0 camber and it's only the toe-out that's causing my wear. Rolling fenders or rasing the ride height might help the clearance if the offset is fixed.
