Best summer tires available w/60-65 profiles

Title says it all. There is no love for 15-inch wheels

Currently I'm using Yokohama Avid T4, pretty good performance all season but looking for something better.

15 inch wheels = x100!
People only use those tiny wheels in the winter to avoid damaging their aftermarket wheels. For the summer you want larger wheels with a smaller, stiffer sidewall.

I think you're a little confused...

With smaller wheels the heaviest part of the whole wheel (rim and tires) is located closer to the center. The closer to the center it's located the faster your car can slow down and accelerate.

15 inch wheels is a bit too small though, because very large sidewall makes the car handle less precisely. 17 or 16 inch wheel are a good compromise. IMO

Not if you are only interested in going fast like he is.

I agree. I pull down better 60' times with stock 15" wheels than I do with lighter, forged 17" wheels. The tires on the 17s were better, too.

The 17s are better for handling, of course. The 15s roll too much.

What are you using 15s for, JClaw? Everyday driving or track use? Don't you have some dedicated track wheels and tires?

i've also been trying to find a good summer tire for my 15s. Only summer tires i found for 15in rim with 60 or 65 side wall was the bf g sport tire Dunlop SP Sport 01 A. G sport seems to have good reviews and not too much has been said about the dunlops. I got some traction t/a which aren't bad but i want something stickier for the summer. If it helps any i asker for actual weights for the 205/65/15 h rated traction ta weigh 20 pounds and 225/60/15 g sport weigh 26 pounds (info from tirerack).

This doesn't really help since he is looking for tires for a 15in rim and most of those tires don't come in 15.

I am in the same boat looking for tires for my SE, it has 215/60/15 stock. and most summer tires i found are aviliabe in 205/60/15 only. or else i have to go with 225/50-55/15.

you guys think 205/60/15 will make any noticable different on handling compare to 215/60/15 stockys????

Please tell this to 9-second muscle car owners.

Actually I'm quite interested in handling, but everytime I think of putting on larger wheels I'm reminded of the VW article where the same car with 15-inchers put down better lap times than the 16 and 17-inch equiped cars. Less (centered) upsrung weight is good no mater how you look at it.

I prefer to say that I want handling without compromising straight line accleration. If I were only interested in "going fast" I wouldn't be putting on coilovers and 50 lbs subframe connectors this year.

I might put on smaller tires in the front, so long as the ABS doesn't go batsh*t crazy.

Both.

Stock are 215/60/15=25.16" diameter. I was looking for 225/55/15 tires (24.74" diameter, only slightly smaller) but I can't find a tire that I'd like in that size. Looking at using 225/50/15 (23.86" diameter) Toyo T1-R's up front and taller tires in the rear. I'm thinking having more grip up front is going to help with understeer.
