What tires? Ecsta ASX or Nexen N3000

I need some new tires for the max especially ones that grip good. But i will not take them off in the winter. I dont know if its worth the $160 to get the Ecsta ASX. Let me know what you guys think. I need a tire that will last long at least 300 treadwear and need traction to be AA but at least A and temp to be A, and speed rated high.

I'm going to go with the Kumhos. I've had good luck with their tires, and I've never even heard of Nexen???

Can't give you much help on all-season tires.. it's warm where I live and I run summer tires only

BTW my friend has ASXs on his 1.8t Jetta and he has been very happy with them.

My friends dad owns a tire shop...he sold me these Nexen 3000 for dirt cheap to beat-on for a summer. Well after 10k km's they still have 70% tread and they don't hydroplane if I try!! I've had Pilot Sports, Protenza's, Kuhmo's, Dunlops and Proxes...I have to say, for the money Nexen's are amazing. The best "everyday" tire i have ever used. As long as you don't take them to the track and expect to hook-up a 3500RPM clutch drop you'll be more than happy.

Trust me on this, i have access to any tire I want at cost and I just bought another set of Nexen's for this year

Pm me if you have any other concerns

i checked a few sites and people seem to give very positive reviews on the nexen 3000. im also looking for a size of 235/40/18 and for a price of $390 shipped through ebay is unbeatable.

Do you guys know where else to buy this tire?

I have the ASX and i am pretty happy with them, they stick pretty good and arent bad in the rain. My dads lincoln has the x3000 ones and they look great and also perform pretty good for the size he has.

Quick question:

How big of a ride difference will i feel with a 235-40-18 tire vs. 225-40-18???

The difference in price is $55. Is it worth it?

Thanks

I have ASX's on my 2k2 17's... and I love them. My car needs an alignment, but the tires barely show any sign of wear after 4k miles. Traction is pretty good, but I can still spin them on my 3.5

theres a bunch of tires that don't do bad when its dry but absolutley suck in the rain. You don't want to find out the ones you bought suck in the wet when your hitting the binders on the Schuylkill Xpressway ! read the tirerack tests, spending a bit more for tires could save your car and your ***.
OK off the soap box now

Don't overlook General Exclaim UHP's. Cheap and handle great in the rain.

I ran ASX's 235/40/18 through a northeast winter. They held up pretty well, except when they wouldn't grip trying to get out of a parking spot that was pretty much an ice sheet. You should be happy with them.

Theres no such thing as a cheap wheel combo for the 6th gen, you cant fit steelies on it (if you can find them, im listening) so therefore you need to get atleast 17" rims and tires. Im getting an entire package with 18" and nexens for $1000 shipped new mounted and balanced.

I put F1 Goodyears through snow lol

i got nexens on my g35's and they stick on the road during summer... they're quiet and the ride is comfortable. They're pretty good during rainy season. I have no complains. BTW i live in seattle! Rains like a MF here. I recommend the nexens.

I have about 5,000 miles on my ASX's on stock 2K3 17's. They have a softer sidewall than the stock Potenza's, do pretty well in the dry, decent in the wet and pretty good on crappily plowed streets. Overall, I like them so far.

definately do not get the nexens if you plan to drive in the snow at all. i live in minnesota and my maxima came with new n3000 from the dealer and i loved their grip in the fall until the first snow- they have absolutely no snow traxion.. in fact i just got done shoveling my maxima out of the driveway after it got stuck because the tires couldnt grip. so definatley pass if it will involve snow at all, but otherwise great tires.. i have no complaints in any other conditions.

Nexen N5000

The Nexen n5000 have come out recently and I believe the n7000 are close behind. Anyone have any rants or raves about the 5000's. These tires are supposed to be better in all conditions i.e. snow.

Here are the Nexen 7000's for $396 bucks, including ship...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-In...spagenameZWDVW

I bought a set of Nexen 3000's off this guy, about 3 months ago...for 352 bucks delivered! (225/50/17)

Very pleased so far with the tread wear and handling, and the tread pattern has a really great look to it too...
