245's on a 7.5 inch rim??

245's on a 7.5 inch rim??
Im just wondering if a 245/40/18 will fit on a 18x7.5 inch wheel the wheels that I am looking at are only available in a 7.5 but I really like them a lot. I dont want the tire looking like its gonna fall off the wheel either. Any help would be appreciated.

oem 6th gen SE are 18x7.5 with 245/45-18
the 40 profile you listed is NOT for 7.5 wheels. Like I said, you can see what tires fit using the calculators AND are closest to your OEM specs.

I see what you are saying about the tire calculator. Can you break it down for me why a 245/45/18 can fit on a 7.5 inch rim and a 245/40/18 can not? The only difference is the sidewall, the width of the tire remains the same. Thanks for the help

the manufacturers designate certain tire sizes for certain wheel sizes for a reason...and that reason is safety.

The tire is "strongest" (so to say) when the sidewall is vertical. When you go to a wider tread and shorter sidewall, you are in essence putting the sidewall at such an angle from the tread to the wheel rim that it will either: 1) not have sufficient strength to support the car correctly or 2) will slip off the rim and cause a disastrous loss of control.
