Need tire recommendation..

I need some new rubber for my 18's. I have the Kumho ASX tires which are pretty nice, but the tread is dying. I think I want to get some performance tires which can maximize handling and stick to the road. Any reocmmendations?

I bought from TireRack last year and they seemed great.

Thanks!

if you want a kick a$$ set of all seasons, get the toyos 4s, if you want a real grippy summer tire, toyos T1s

Thanks. Is it OK to use summer performance tires in the winter? I know it won't be as good as all season, but do people do it (if you dirve cautiously)?

Also.. is there a big handling difference from summer performance tires and say, the Kumho ASX tires (all season) which I have now? Where will I notice the difference and is it a big one? I'm looking at size 235-40-18.

Thanks!
Dan

Well, summer tires will be very bad in the snow, but in general colder weather they'll be okay. Not super, but liveable.

I can vouch for Toyo T1-Rs. The T1-S has been discontinued/replaced by the T1-R. But these tires are pretty quiet and insanely grippy in both wet and dry.

If you want all season, then about 75 others can vouch for the proxes 4, also a much loved tire among the orgers, and significantly cheaper than the T1-R. Of course, they're not nearly as grippy either. And yeah, the T1-R should be noticeably more grippy than pretty much any all-season tire in the wet and dry, although possibly not in cold weather.

Anyway, stick within the ultra high-perf Toyos and you should be fine.

No. edgeracing.com or a local mom and pop shop are your best bets for Toyos.
