Hi!

A local dealer just proposed a set of 4 Nankang 245/45 18's for my 2005 Maxima.

Anyone with any knowledge on these tires?

That dealer said that the Hankooks are crappy (H104 or H105) , the Falkens 452's are expensive and not worth it. The Bridgestones & Pirellis are even more expensive. In Canada even though the dollar is almost at par now. A set of Pirellis or Bridgestones or Michelins in 245 will set you back anywhere from 300 ea to 400 ea!

The Nankang NS II's are only $160 ea installed & balanced. that's pretty good.

I had Nankang NS1 [NS-I]. The NS-II are summer tires, mine were all-seasons. Nothing special about them, they're ok. Customer service was awesome... I had to get all 4 replaced and that was done, no questions asked, no cost to me.

i had a set of ns-1s, absolutely hated them. wore out fast, made a ton of road noise, just nothing good to say about them. i hope the ns-2's are better cause they couldnt get any worse

i have NS-2 on my summer rims now... they're not bad at all. I just drove through a heavy thunderstorm and it handled better then I expected. Thumbs up for the price and performance. I wouldn't use them in the snow tho.

Wear isn't bad at all. Seeing that it never sees snow or salt and have never been in cold weather, I have 13K miles on them now with more than half thread left.

Dont get me wrong... as soon at winter comes around, the Proxys 4s are going back on.

I have them on the Max now with no problems. It stays pretty much between summer, spring, and fall here in San Diego. They handle very well in the rain and are quiet. Handling is awesome and grips the road quite well. Like I said, we don't see too much crazy weather except temperature drops around here.
