Odometer question= 18's vs 16's

I put some 18" oem's off a '05 max on my '00 SE which had 16" stock tires and wheels. The calculator states that my speedo is 5.4% slower than with 16's. Does that mean if I went 271 miles on the odo I really went 5.4% farther? I know one thing my fuel consumption went from 24 to 20 with mixed city and highway. I'm not complaining, that is what Nissan says we can expect.

^ I've wondered this as well. I would assume so, unless someone can prove otherwise.

[offtopic]Wow, somebody else from Knoxville! What part are you from?[/offtopic]

Nice to see some guys from Knoxville.

I always thought that when it said your speedometer was 5.4% slower/faster I thought that just meant when you were doing like 60 and if it was faster youd be doing like 62 and is slower youd be doing 58. But I have never thought of that. Maybe but I dont think that would affect your odometer as that would be causing fake mileage on cars if it was slower. Which would make it illegal to have anything but stock. But maybe I am just stupid I dont know.

I put 285/70/15's my old truck that had stock 235/75/15's on it and got a ticket for 68mph in a 55mph. My speedo read 62mph.

According to this, you were going a fraction under 66mph when your speedo read 62. So the copy gave you an extra 2 mph...
