Question on Staggered Fit...

Question about staggered Fit
From what i understand staggered fit is when the wheels are wide in the back and and thinner in front, now say for example i am looking at these wheels
http://wheelsnext.com/default.cfm?ac...lor=HYPERBLACK
Now it says 225/40/18(Front) + 265/35/18(Rear), would that fit on my new maxima? And if it did, is that look clearly reserved for RWD cars and is it just considered a poser thing to have on a near luxury sedan? btw i have a 1998 GLE Maxima thanks!

Wider rears increase understeer
Be careful - when you get too spirited, your front end will wander wide on turns. Wider rear tires on 911s etc are there to tame trailing throttle oversteer, not to look cool. A firm rear sway bar will help overcome this, but you have to balance the suspension so you don't overdo it. Careful mods will make your car handle better and look great. Isolated change can turn a dream car into a nightmare.

Well I have 3 sets of wheels that fit both my Z and the Maxima, so I kind of change it up a bit. The Enkeis are my street wheels for the Z, and I keep the Z32 wheels on the Max most of the time. Since the Z is mostly a toy/track car, sometimes I'm lazy and leave the track wheels and tires on it. I hate to see the Enkeis sitting around unused, so they end up on the Maxima from time to time. As for the track, I'm sure the staggered setup would not be fun to drive with.... terminal understeer comes to mind. That's why I have the track wheels with race rubber, although I have not test fitted my new 275/40/17 all around setup yet. I don't think 275s are going to work on the front??? (well see soon )
BTW 17x10s coming for the Z32 (all around) very soon.

You can run big fronts if you set up suspension right
The problem with big fronts is excessive unspurng weight on the wheels that drive and steer. On perfectly smooth surfaces (e.g. many but not all race tracks), it's not too much of a problem. But once you hit an irregularity (e.g. on the road), you need much higher spring rates and more damping to keep the contact patch on the road. This can give a pretty harsh ride. With a RWD car, big meats onthe driving wheels don't affect steering.
