I am curious to know if 225/55/17 can be put on stock 2k1 SE wheels.
Since 225/55/17" tires are little cheaper than the stock tires so i would want to give a try. has anyone tried this size on thier max if yes then do they fit right?

They will fit no problem, your sidewall will be a little thicker than the 50 series but that's all... They will fit your rim fine

Tire Size Comparison

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
225/50-17 4.4in 12.9in 25.9in 81.2in 780 0.0%
225/55-17 4.9in 13.4in 26.7in 84.0in 754 3.4%

There you go, obviously going with 225/55 compared to 225/50 your sidewall is going to be larger which means the tire will be larger seeing as your maintaing the 225mm width

They're both safe. Just depends if you want to deal with your speedo/odo being slightly incorrect.

And how much cheaper are they? You can get Kumho Ecsta ASX in 225/50/17 for $88/tire last time I looked. It doesn't get much better than that.
