wondering if anyone knows how I can paint my stock rims black.

Someone told me that I would have to sand them down and that would be a pain to do and then to spray paint them with a special type of spray paint made for rims.

has anyone ever done this? have a procedure or pics or anything they can help me out with.

You may want to have them sanded and powdercoated. That way you don't have to worry about it chipping.

 

the heat from powder coating can weaken the rim

Just clean the wheel like crazy, sand with 300-400 grit paper, clean again, paint with high quality paint, clear coat if you wish.

 

Last spring, I helped my buddy paint his stock wheels on his 350Z black. Just cleaned them with some degreaser and painted. He picked up the paint from a hardware store. The finish is holding up great.
