Drag radials.
Drag radials.
What kind of drag radials would you all recomend for the 1/4 track? I will soon be getting a 50 shot of nitrous for my VG 3rd gen and my all season yoko avid v4s's are not going to handle the nitrous as they spin already with the hp i have now.
Tire rack doesnt give me drag radials, they only give me autcross tires, so i dont know what kind of tires to get.
Thanks for the help.

what size rim? Do you need a taller or shorter tire? Whats your budget?
Brands available:
BFG, hard to find the correct size
Nitto, not that good overall
Hoosier, pricey
If you can go with a DOT approved street slick do it. Much better traction hands down.

These would be for my old stock 15" rims size 205/50/15 would be ideal...
the only tires i would get would be DOT approved since i have to drive to the drag strip...
Probally going to end up getting the bfg's since i dont have a ton of money...
Thanks for your help any other suggestions?

All drag radials are DOT approved, that's the point of them.
If they are going to be used only for the track and driving to and from the track then I'd get the stickiest ones you can without regard for tire life meaning Mickey Thompson DRs, though I don't know if they make them in a suitable size for you. I'm sure they don't make a 205-50-15 but you don't want to run that size anyways, not sure why you desire it. That's a tiny tire. If you want to step up to a bias ply then you coud do an ET Street or similar, though that's total overkill for a 50 shot.

The reason i would be doing a 205/50/15 is because that is what the stock rims are that i have laying around... i dont have the kind of money to go buy new rims for the track, i just want something to get by...
I am aware of that. I just saw that Arron had 205/50/15's so i thought that would work for me! But BFG makes a 225/50/15 so theoretically i could get that but i wasnt sure if that was too wide for the stock rim.
I don't know what the width of the stock 3rd gen wheel is but I'd assume it's a 15x6 or 15x6.5. you could get the 225s on there.
the other thing you want to take into consideration though is your gearing. you don't want to get a tire size that forces you into a shift right before the finish line or something like that, that will hurt your times and speeds. it is probably wise to go to the track once before purchasing the DRs, with your nitrous installed, to see where you are trapping and where in the RPMs you are when you cross the traps and what gear you're in. that is a key element in a tire size decision in my book.
Are you auto or 5spd? Aaron uses that tiny tire size primarily because he's auto and he needs the gearing help. if your car is a 5 speed this doesn't necessarily mean you should run that size too.
if you've decided on the BFGs you can get them at tirerack, tirerack is great.

Yes i am 5spd and i am going to get the BFG's because the other tires you mentioned are too expensive...
I will be going to the track without the DR's and with nitrous as you mentioned to see what my trap and gear are when finishing...
As of now i finish at 83-85 mph and almost hit 6000 rpms in 3rd when hitting the trap. so with nitrous i will definatly be in 4th.
Thanks for the suggestions.
