Can Summer tires be different
#2
It's best to buy the same tire for the front/rear, with tread depths as close as possible (preferably within 1/32"). However, non-matching pairs won't hurt to drive on. For a while, I had Michelin Pilot Sports on the front and Bridgestone RE040's on the rear. I got rid of the Bridgestones and replaced them with 2 Sports about 1/32" different tread depth than the fronts. Try ebay to pick up some closely matching tires.

AutoX guys run sticky tires up front to enhance turn in and get the car to rotate better. I'm currently on 4 matching tires, but would not have any issues with running 2 diff sets of summer tires.... I'd run the better ones up front.
