Mitsubishi Eclipse GT rims on Max...?
Mitsubishi Eclipse GT rims on Max...?
So here's the deal...
I picked up a set of factory 17" 2000 Mistubish Eclipse GT rims (the 6 spoke design) with tires from a garage sale for 20 bucks. I had to take up the offer because rims and tires for 20 bucks?! Very nice shape too, and I thought maybe I could turn around and make a profit off of them myself. But actually, I have a question, with these rims being the same bolt pattern and all, would these fit on my 1995 Maxima? I have noticed that the lug seat on the rim is different than my factory rims. The Eclipse rims have a flat, shank seat, compared to the bulge seat on my factory rims. Question is, are these rims compatable with on a Maxima, and if so, what lugs would I need to attach them to the car properly? I actually took one wheel off of my car and placed one Eclipse rim on to see what they would look like, and suprisingy, they look a hell of a lot better than my honeycomb wheels. They seem to fit, but I am clueless about the whole compatablity and lug nut issue. Thanks!

Yeah, the bolt pattern is correct, but I'm not sure about the correct lug nuts, because the seat of the Eclipse rims are flat, and looks like a washer came before the lug nut itself. For those who don't understand, check out the mistubishi eclipse rims on ebay, as you can see, all of the rims have the same flat seat for the lugs. So, how could I find out which are the correct lug nuts that match the rims? I wouldn't want my wheel to fly off down the highway

I would post some pictures, but I lost my camera
, Ok...
So you know when you put the wheel on the hub, place the lug nuts onto the bolts, and start tightening down the wheel...Im talking about the surface where the lug nut meets the actual rim. You cannot use the stock lug nuts because the ends of the nuts are tapered/curved, hence the name "acorn or bulge seat". The actual rim isn't made for an acorn or bulge style lug nut. It looks as if the lug nut should be flat when it comes into contact with the rim, along with some sort of washer between the rim and the nut. Im curious if mounting these rims is as simple as buying the correct style lug nuts for these rims. Im guessing it should be no problem as long as the bolt pattern matches up, but finding the correct lugs to go with the rims seems to be the confusing part...

I know what you are taking about I sell wheel's and tires along with other performance parts. your biggest problem is that a eclipse is a 12x1.5 thred pitch and your maxima is a 12x1.25. You need to find a cragar style lugnut and washer setup for it that is 12x1.25. Try your local tire center they might have it on hand if not they can order what you need. Or have another sugestion, do not run a acorn or bulge seat lug nut on that it will fall off.
I think you would just need to get a different type of lugnuts. I ran into this when I mounted some Integra GSR rims on my 88 Civic. Different type of lugnuts needed to mount them correctly.
Another thing that might be a problem is the center bore size. I haven't looked it up, but they are likely different, meaning the wheel won't fit or it will need some hub centric rings. Best thing to do is try them out.

BTW, the offset is +46 and i think it looks terrible on the back, its waaaay too far in the wheel well. They're also only 6.5" wide. I have 225/45/17 on them.
