275/40-17, Cobra R 17x9 (+26mm offset), 2.75" drop?

I came across the deal of the century at autocross today...

Guy says I can HAVE a set of 275/40-17 Hoosier A3S03 autocross tires, if I get them dismounted. They have 3 heat cycles on them, and only 2 runs. They're essentially NEW.

According to the wheel offset calculators in the stickies, my clearance from the center of the wheel to the strut housing is the same, but the distance from the center of the wheel to the outside of it is 38mm more. I figure, for 9" of wheel, that's not bad.

My main question is, since these are RACE RUBBER ONLY... when the KSports are set to full stiff, and there's hardly ANY body roll, will these fit, on some stock Cobra R wheels, on my 99? For that kind of deal, I'd be willing to roll the fenders if need be.

If those wheels won't work, please tell me what offset I'd need for some 17x9's.

Thanks!

send a pm to z32drifter....IIRC he has wide wheels with a low offset and might be able to answer your question.

My guess is that they will not fit well with that offset, at least up front. They might fit in the back.

I've run 17x9 +34s with 275/40/17 (just around the block, so no long term testing) here's a few pics of the front.

sorry no close up on the rear, the 255/40/17s (Pzero Corsas) did not rub in the front but had minor rub in the rear (inside edge of the outer lip) easy roll to correct.
here's a comparo pic of the fronts with 255/40/17 (same wheels)

you can see the 255s tucked under the fender in this turn (S-techs+AGX)

so, they'll fit? Or should I go up to a +38 offset?

I'd go up to the +38 (I have a friend with some +40s I want to test fit) I didn't measure the space inside, so I don't know how much further in you can go.

17x9, with +42mm offset, and a 5mm spacer work the same?

The +26 wheels will be fine if you run smaller tires.

They might not clear the suspension up front, but it will work in the rear no problem.

That's the whole thing, he's getting these big *** tires for free and he wants to find a wheel that will fit with them.

Judging by z32's post, I definitely would not get the +26mm offset. If you can try finding some closer to +35 or 40. Good luck, and that is an awesome deal!

So you're saying +38's would be the way to go?

Look at it this way, you are going down a road no one has gone before (not that I'm aware of anyway) If you are going to make an error on offset, you can add spacers to reduce the offset if needed so error towards more offset.

17x9, with +42mm offset, and a 5mm spacer work the same?

the spacer would make them +37 and I think that would clear, the +42 might clear??? you would have to test fit. With your coilovers and neg camber in the front you may have room to clear the strut and spring.

Going with the topic of wide wheels, you guys think 17 x 10 s would ever fit all around? Just to HAVE them hehe, maybe with 265s all around...rolled fenders

Otherwise, Im pretty much set on getting 17x9 +35 with 255/40s all around. Would you guys go with 40 or 45 sidewall? Thanks

Even if you somehow get the right offset and manage to get 10's to fit in the front without hitting the suspension components, it's still going to stick out a mile.

17x9 all around is doable. You can run the 255/40 in the rear, but for the front, you'll want to do 235/45 to get the tires under the fender.

I don't mind it sticking out a little like z32 drifters. I want to keep the same tire all around to rotate because I'm **** like that hehe.... Hes running 255s all around and it looks fine to me...

Real reason why I was asking is because 5zigen fn01r-cs are sexy in 10 inch versions with the sunken face But Im sure they will stick out a lot like you said. I could always do some body work (have a friend that does body work for CHEAP for me ) But I don't think its worth it to add flairs/smooth/paint...

^^ The wheel your talking about is a 10 +35, you would need fender flares to cover it up. I'll be ordering a set of the 10's soon for my Z32. I'm sure I will stick them on the Maxima for a picture or two, I can't help myself it's a sickness.
