My tire has been making this noise for the longest time, and I realized that there was a nail in it. It's not losing any air though... is it ok to leave it in there?

 

It will be okay...I mean I left a screw in my tire for the longest. Because I never noticed it until I took the rim off.

But get it fixed for the peace of mind you'll have.

Discount Tire patched my tire and also balanced it FREE of charge. So call around to see how much if any people are charging. It's usually around $15

you can plug it yourself. get a kit from an auto parts store. i've plugged a few of my own before.

 

plugs are usually temporary + cost $ if you can get it done free why not?

When you take it to the shop they unmount the tire and patch it from the inside, which IMO is safer.

 

Definitely the best route to go. Where is the nail? If it's too close the the sidewall, it can't be patched.

 

keep some fix-a-flat with you just in case. It works well enough to be worthy of keeping a can around, especially for small screws/nails in the tire.
