wheel fitment questions/price questions/quality questions

http://westpalmbeach.craigslist.org/pts/506115418.html

so these came on craigslist this afternoon for the first time.
says pattern is 5x114.3. i assume that will be fine for my 4th gen.

anyone have experience with NEXO rims? they good? light?

what about the TOYO proxes fz4?

will 225 40 18 have any problems with my car?

any other things i should be worried about?
is this price fair?

You won't have any problems with 225/40/18 (I ran 225/45/18 for a year or so). You'll be sacrificing some sidewall and speedo accuracy, though. I can't comment on the quality of the rims, though.

It would be nice to have a width, offset and an actual weight to go along with the sale. Historically, that company has been known to have heavy wheels, they claim they’re light, but it depends on what their definition of light is.

Also, 225-45, IMO, is too thin for an A32 or even A33 chassis. Get width and offset for sure, and weight if you can.

I would go with 235-40-18, or even 245-40 -18, again, this is dependent on width and offset.

Assuming they're 18 x 8's, 225/45 is a bit too little sidewall for my tastes... Not to mention the much better ride of 235/40 versus 225/45. And the seller looses points for failing to give good rim specs.

i don't know anything about that brand in particular, but i would stay away from off brand wheels if possible. since the pic is from a website, it really has nothing to do with anything. here is a similar wheel that i would recommend (if you're still a fan of darker color wheels). i have a wheel from this company, and was impressed by the quality. can't speak on the weight though. it will be easier to help with the tires once you find out the sizing.

yea thats pretty much exactly what i had pictured on my white GLE.

i think chrome would look tacky on a white car. black would look dirty. i was aiming for that gunmetal shade with a spoke design. im trying to go simple styling - avoid the blingbling.

what u think? any other suggestions for this?

Get something wider and nicer...I have always liked black wheels on a white car (no polished lip). Something like 5zigen FN01R-C in matte black would be sweet (may be my next wheel )

i just went to the MRR website to look at those wheels you showed....dude they are like 350 bux a piece? i was aiming to spend like 120 a pop. basically 1100 tops for the whole setup including alignment.

they sell for way under msrp. you can get a 18" wheel/tire combo for around $1500 shipped. thats mounted and balanced, but no alignment. i'll look for some other similar wheels.

i used to be able to get these wheels fairly cheap from a local distributer.

i think bronze/gold would be cool.

i would almost say stick with your original idea of oem wheels. some forged g/350/se-r wheels would be your best value. i really like the look of the bronze ones, but the quality probably isn't great in that price range.

I have a better suggestion, something WAY lighter:

17x8.5 +30 Price $234 each ($220 + tires) Those would sit VERY flush and look awesome...

245/40/17 Federal 595ss are 75 a pop, so Wheels and tires are 1180 total. Plus mounting but if you buy from here he may include it:http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...ighlight=Enkei

They were November specials but he may cut you some slack. They weigh 15.5 pounds...

Federals are noted to be very sticky as well, their tread life isn't special, but there are always trade offs...

15.5 pounds for 17 x 8.5 for a little over 200 is the BEST deal you can find anywhere... Find me another wheel for that price and I shall promptly shut up

They also clear Zs (or other BBK) by MILES, so your good in that department as well...

You'll need 10-15mm spacers in the rear to be flush, but thats true for ANY wheel setup with 4th gens unless you stagger...
