I'm looking at some wheels, and they are the size in the thread title. I plan on running the tires listed as well if I decide to get them. I don't want to get/deal with spacers and curious to know what "close to perfect" offset I should run. I can calculate offsets all day long, but it doesn't give me a visual nor any experience others have had with this setup.

I would like for the offset to fender flush the wheels. What do you have/recommend and do you have any pictures to show-and-tell?

P.S. I remember from my previous 19's in this size, they only offered 30mm and 40mm offsets, so I went with 30mm and never got to do any measuring to find out what the offset should have been for my taste. They were perfect up front, but I wanted the rear pushed out a little more. I had to get what was available then, and I want to get a little more specific (offset wise) if I change them out this time.

 

for flush ~35mm front, the rear would have to be low-mid 20s to be flush on an 8.5.

the wheels i'm looking at are 8.5 +30. the front will actually have to be cambered in to be flush, and the rear lip should be just insde the fender. with a 5th gen you have a couple extra mm.

 

How about an 8 inch wheel?

 

Just do the math, 1 inch is ~25mm, .5 inch is ~12mm, so half an inch less is 6mm of extra clearence on both sides of the wheel...

So if you have an 8.5 inch wheel with +30 offset, an 8 inch wheel would require a +24 offset to be at the same position at the fender as the 8.5...

There are offset calculators to do this for you, to start off a 9 inch wheel with +38 offset is flush in the front, and flush in the rear with a 10-10mm spacer. If you are going to go with a thinner wheel, do the math

 

here is 8.5 front with 38 offset and 9.5 rear with 38 offset. There is a bit more space to play with F and R but they are decently close to lip

I started this thread only because the options in offsets I have are 25mm, 37mm, and 45mm in 18 x 8. If I get them I'll probably go with the 18 x 8 that they offer. I'd love to get the 19 x 8.5 in them but the problem I run into is there are only 2 offsets of 20mm and 45mm, which more than likely would not give me what I'm looking for.

On top of that, I've had 19's before and as much as I love the look, I don't really feel like hassling with more expensive tires, bent rims, and a heavier set.

In all honesty, I really like my G Coupe 18's and have no problems keeping them, but my buddy with a G Coupe wants to get a very clean set (mine) since his are a little rashed.



What do you guys think my best setup should be with the offsets provided above in the 18 x 8? Maybe a 25mm in the rear, and a 37mm up front? Should I even stagger offsets like that? I know rotating tires would cause more of a hassle for me, then again I have to weigh the option of having a perfect stance and how important it is to me.

18x8 37 with a 5mm spacer front
and 18x8 25mm back

Using the offset calculator i've decided on 19 x 8.5 with a 45mm offset.
What are your thoughts on a 10mm spacer up front and a 25mm spacer in the rear?
Sounds like I need to bring the front to 30mm and the rears to 20mm to get close to flush.
I'm calculating this right aren't I?

 

Thats about right, you should be golden...difference front to rear is about 15mm IIRC, 10mm in the front won't be perfectly flush but it will give you enough clearence all around...You may still need to roll your fenders, but I doubt it...

i'm not too partial to the big spacers but if it's what you want to go then go for it! should look good

 

I think anything an inch or under isn't bad, anything over that and I do start to worry...

 

I wish I didn't have to use spacers at all, but the limited offset choices leave me no other route for me to get to my goal.

 

I am a fan of getting the right sizes from the get go, but if you are set on wheels then go for it. Just be sure to have your options open for other wheels
