not sure what you think my tastes are, but none of these wheels or the enkies are my style. i was just trying to steer you towards something thats affordable, quality, and similar to what you've listed. sportmax and asa aren't really known for their quality and are considered knock-off wheels by those who know. the other brand i've never even heard of.

*edited to show what i'm talking about

racing hart z5000 (discontinued long ago)

enkie evo 5 (much better alternative to 2 and 4)

volk gt-v

i'm not trying to argue, i'm just trying to help you get the most for your money. i know the wheels you posted are fairly cheap, so i suggested enkei because they are affordale.

x2, kinda regret going sportmax, but I did get them for a good price and they have the best lip/width to money ratio then any other wheel...

I have hit some nasty bumps and they are holding up very well...I have the 502s BTW...

the ASA's arent a bad choice out of that selection.

another option i'd also consider would be the Rota P45's.

Here's my advice, take it for what it is worth to you.

Stay clear of "affordable" rims and knock-off brands. They do not have the quality control in production that the better brands do, that is one of the ways the cut the cost down. Look for forged rims or at least pressure cast. They will be stronger than simple gravity cast, and probably lighter too. I had an inexpensive set of rims and one shattered around a corner sending me into a curb and damaging my car. I learned my lesson, save up and get quality.

I spoke with a metalurgist at a local foundry and he told me that it looked like a cold pour. He said quality control should have caught that.

They were Exel rims, a knock-off of Advan, from wheelmax. I pushed on many forums for people not to buy from them. They no longer make these rims. I hope because of me.

Thats a little misleading, don't put the forum members here in a false sense of security when they buy quality wheels. I have seen a volk wheel rip apart just like that (CE37s?) hitting a curb...sure its less likely, but there is always a risk...

Rota's also have a bad rep, but people still buy them and suggest them all the time...Now sportmax is the only one that I haven''t seen issues...I guess they have so much mass its nearly impossible to do it

the main issue with cheap wheels isn't quality, its quality control. you could have 99 perfectly fine rims and that last 1 could detonate like the one above.

i don't worry about that too mcuh, i just don't like the idea of having a wheel that is a (or brand known for) knock-off. it would kill me if i was riding on rota, sportmax, etc and someone pulled up next to me with the authentic volk, work, etc. i take cars pretty (maybe a little too) seriously but the way i see it is if you don't care why even mod.

I can understand that, but i could care less about what anyone else thinks, knock off or not...I mod the car for ME and ME only...I show the ORG my car because its my passion and I love it. I figure I can inspire others to do the same...

er... if it's hitting a curb at a decent speed, most likely it will at least crack.

Oh believe me, if I had the money I would, not because the name, but because you have to spend some good doh for baller wheels and more importantly, sizes...I chose the 502s because they fit my budget and where the widest available for the money (PM me if you want to know )...

Very true, just using it as a point...Any wheel can be destroyed

what are you guys doing with wheels, when i was a little younger (still is) and was new to modding i bought some 20's FTL for $800 and there was never an issue so while i can agree on a volk rim that it's better, thats like two of the same intake filters with different names, bragging rights... you think if im driving someone can read my center caps???

thats a little extreme, so what your saying is that if it isnt the biggest brand dont mod??? ......... comparison, i had ebay y-pipe, BFF had budget but couldn't run a better 1/4 mile, now of coarse budget isnt the best, but better than ebay so your saying i should have gotten any y-pipe at all??? i dont get your point?... clearly i care, cause i want rims

My rim went THEN I hit the curb. I have seen quality rims break after hitting a curb but they usually look like this, not shattered. The tire off of the shattered rim showed no damage at all.

I have also heard of the Rota recall on Suburu's. Rota quickly admitted the problem and replaced any rim. Wheelmax and Exel told me to go pound sand.

That is the other thing about better brands, they will stand behind their product. If you want to purchase "inexpensive" or "affordable" rims that is your choice, but know what you are buying and from whom you are buying.

Exactly! My comment was simply for other users to be aware that even top brands have their faults, just less so than others or they do a good job at covering them up...I researched a lot on Sportmax. I read endless bashing, etc, but I never heard anything negative other than the weight.

4 months later I am satisfied with my purchase. If I did it again would I go with something else? Possibly, but it feels good when I hit a massive pothole at 60+ and no damage has been done

Grand_hustle17, If you want some pics of the 502s on a maxima, I have the gunmetal ones on my white 4th gen...http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c227/Fast1one/Maxima/

They are 18 x 9.5 +35 with 245/40 rubber...rolled rear fenders and no rubbing...

Cheers!

yeah, i admit its extreme but that's how i feel. and not neccesarly "the best" but something of reputable quality. i.e. i would put a budget ss y on my car, but not an ebay y pipe. but i'll probably go cattman.

you should check out tirerack.com. they have some nice clearance deals right now. just be sure to plug in a 2003 350z base because their website sucks about wheel reccomendations. bbs, gram lights, ro_ja, ssr, volk, weds, etc. definitely worth a look.
