Altima SE-r wheel OWNERS, some specs please....

so before you flame, ive searched both google and on here under "altima se-r wheel offset", "altima se-r wheel spec" and "altima se-r wheels" and have come across different answers to the same questions...

I want to know the following:

1) the exact SIZE (width) of the wheel: ive read 18 x 7.5, 18 x 8 and 18 x 8.5

which is it?

2) the exact OFFSET of the wheel: ive read 40, 42 and 45mm. then someone at the meet said they thought they were 38mm.....

which is it?

3) the approximate WEIGHT of the wheel: i cant find any info on this...not even in the "definitive wheel weight" sticky found in this section.

i am aiming for a wheel that is in the 10lb to 15lb range

so, assuming they are 18 x 8.5 with a 45mm offset, will these have rubbing issues on a 4th gen?

seems like a 8.5" wide wheel with 45mm will sit pretty flush due to the high offset, am i correct?

thanks, and flame away....

why dont you try the ALTIMA forums for ALTIMA wheels.

18's in the 10-15lb range??? not gonna happen, especially for OE wheels.

understand offsets. also use the wheel offset calculator in the stickies. a very high +45et will sit fairly IN even on a 8.5" wide wheel. no rubbing issues even with a 245/40 tire. a more preferred offset would be around +30~+35. if it were a 10" wide wheel then its a different story.

i understand offsets plenty well thank you.
that is why i was asking if a 45mm offset would have rubbing issues - because it is sitting in so far.

and yes there are quite a few 18s that weigh around 15lbs.
would you like me to post links to them?

with the 8.5" +45 you shouldnt have a problem with inner fender lining or strut rubbing. slap on a 235/40. not sure if the 245/40's will rub or not. the rears would definitely be okay but sunken battleships = fail. try getting a lower offset if you're concerned about flushness.

and yes, i would like to see those links. even FN's in 18x8.5 are 21lbs.

and the reason i ask is because i currently have 17 x 7 with a 40mm offset on my 97 right now and the flushness is near perfect. if i went to a 8" wide wheel i would have to have a higher offset to compensate for the extension.

so would a 45mm offset 18x8 wheel sit flush with a 4th gen?

and here are those 15lb 18s....

Did anybody find the weight on these yet?

Also, I don't want to jack your thread, but I would like to add to it:
How much are these worth 2nd hand typically?

Thanks.

i found 18x8 +45, which sounds about right for an altima.

now that youve asked about just about every oem nissan wheel, i hope you are getting the picture. pretty much any oem wheel will fit (maxima, i30/35, g35, 350z, m35/45, murano, fx35, s14, etc.).

you are over thinking this. offset is in mm... its not gonna make much of a difference. weight? who cares... if you want something light go aftermarket.

17-18.7lbs depending in width for 18".

i still fail to see 18's in the 10-15lb weigh range. move to aftermarket 16's or 17's if you want 10-15lbs. I dont even know why youre looking at those particular OE wheels if you want it that light... :
+1 on BLACKonBLACK98's comment. youre WAY overlooking the OEM wheel sizing. OEM wouldnt be made if offsets and sizing were that drastic.

Must have been thinking of the 17s

I agree on 16/17s....Best performance oriented wheel for our cars is 17 IMO. Relatively light, good options, cheaper tires, and you can still run a good sized BBK

those specs are right, when I had a set in my possession, I confirmed they say 18x8 and +45JJ on the inside...then I weighed them and they were 18.2lbs IIRC...which is pretty light for such wide OEM wheels...due to them being forged no doubt.

yea i dont see where you will find rims around 15lbs. even volks are mostly gonna be about 16.5lbs and up (considering we're talking about 18x8 rims). the only one i can think of is the buddy club QF but thats 18x9 +35mm offset. they weigh 14.74lbs each according to their website. also right now i currently have 8.5'' wheels +35mm offset all around and the rear is perfectly flush.

Se-r wheels are too good looking to be light brotha. If your looking for 10-15 pounds your gonna have to get a little more SIMPLE with the design.

Hey Redlinemaxima, those buddyclubs maybe pretty light but how much do the tires weigh? Id say that brings you back up to about average light wheel and tire combo specs. Not to mention the weight on the exterior of the rotational mass matters more than the center.

well im looking at 2 options for tires right now. according to tire rack:

BFG KDW2 - 225/45/17 - 24lbs
General UHP - 235/45/17 - 21lbs

im still torn on which to get. bang for the buck its the UHP's and the performance numbers are close. i have driven cars with the KDW2s and they handle very well but i have not driven a car with UHPs. But if i went with the UHPs that would put me at around 35lbs for the combo. I think thats pretty damn light for 17s with that tire size.

EDIT: Also im going from heavy 20s to these so it will make a world of a difference for me as i will be cutting the weight almost in half at each corner!

i actually ran into some kid at the supermarket who was willing to part with his SE-r wheels for $700 with beatup tires.
its a bit steep but they are pretty much exactly what im looking for in size, weight and color/style

but he didnt have them on a altima se-r so i want to make sure im not gettin ripped off on ebay generics like i did with some G35 coupe wheels a couple of months back.

so they are 18x8 with a 45mm offset and they weigh 18.2 lbs ??
those are the numbers ill be looking for when he takes them off....

also, they are off a 2003. im not to versed in altimas so ill ask a noob question:
how many years did the altima se-r get produced?
are there any variations in the wheel specs from certain yearS?

and with a 45mm offset and 8" wide, will these rub on a stock suspension?
what about when i drop my car 1.5" or so in the summer?

thanks
