Old school, New Look..............Rare Evo5's
Old school, New Look..............Rare Evo5's
So I was fortunate enough to pick up these rare Millie Miglia Evo5's. I know, I know they're old school or whatever, but they still look good and not many wheels can keep this same reputation especially as rare as they are now. So thanks to -eyecon- on hooking me up. I know he didn't want to let them go, I wouldn't have either. The copycat is very similar, but I wanted the real deal.
They are 19 x 8.5 with a 33mm offset I believe, wrapped with General Exclaim UHP 245/35/19's. The current suspension is Progress all around, but I have S-techs that are waiting to be installed in the front only. The rears of the Progress seem lower from the last time I had S-techs all around. It'll also make the profile of the front wheel look bigger with the lower center of gravity in the front end. I wish I was in the position to get coilovers now. I'll end up with Tein SS Coilovers with the controller in the future. I've got black lightweight lugs sitting in the car waiting to be installed also.
There were minor scuffs and such so I had them cleaned, prepped, and sprayed. The color is a custom mixture that I spent over an hour at my spray shop with the owner coming up with. It's a Metallic VW Silverstone Urban Gray Effect with a 25% ratio of Black added to the mixture. I wanted to go deep bronze with these, but my pockets aren't that deep. If they didn't come out exactly like I wanted I didn't want to be disappointed and have to pay for a redo.
They did a great job though, and I recommend them to anyone that needs a wheel repaired to OEM specs or wants some custom work done. Look them up they might be local to you, Kwicksilver Wheel Repair. They are franchised across USA. Some shops have a machining setup for those that need their polished lips revived.
At anyrate, the pictures don't do them justice at all. I wish I had a better camera, and the front might seem darker than the rear from the mass amount of brake dust. I can't wash my car for 7 days or use any tire shine to allow the paint to completely cure and preserve the clear coat's'.
I've only had them for about a week, so I'll get more pics this weekend when I can wash her tomorrow. During the daylight, they look quite different compare to nighttime. It gets more menacing the darker it is, but not quite black.
It's my 6th set of wheels, so I think I'm good for a long time. As it's my best looking setup and have no intentions on ridding of them. G35 OEM Coupe wheels going for sale soon. (They're rashed pretty good but they can be fixed to like new, or custom worked like these.)
Just wanted to share. Enjoy!

Loooking good Paramy. Sometimes OLD SCHOOL > NEW SCHOOL as I have found out myself recently.
You should DEF. get the Tein Coilovers, they are worth the $$. Let's see pics of your system when you're all done.

Nice color selection, P. I love the look, plus it is unique yet classy. How much did the paint job cost? If you don't mind me asking.
And why is there a plastic cup with your name on it?
And oh yeah, time for a brake upgrade.

The old Millie Miglia center caps and the old stems were in that cup along with my invoice for the tires when they took the plastic off.
I was thinking about the K-sports BBK actually or something else, still trying to read all the reviews on the K-sports consensus. Thoughts?
400+ paint job huh? I guess that's worth it considering how rare these rims are now.

Still reading up on the K-sports. I've had the Wilwoods already, and like them. Wish I didn't sell em now.
I was looking into these a while ago, but shied away from them.

i doubt you're gonna stop at these wheels
i thought id stick with the Works and have them refinished... and look what happened.
wheels are literally like shoes.
K-Sport BBK loses the parking brake feature.

Hey- There's nothing wrong with wishful thinking right. I've been saying the same thing for the last 6 sets, and if I keep repeating it one day it might come true.
hahah well whatever helps you get through it. I'm hoping too that the wheels I'm waiting for are going to be my last set... first set of "new" wheels. no more of that used business.
sick dude.. you need to black out the chrome around the windows like in my sig... and i would also smoke the sidemarkers and get 00-01 tails.. and the black theme would look mean with those wheels.. EDIT: okay from the night pics it looks like you did do that lol.. now 01se tails and get some ventshades spray and do up ur corners

Nice work—Evos are true classics and you've made your set unique. It would look even better if you did the centercaps to match IMO. And I agree that 15mm spacers in the rear are a must. Here's a shot of my lowly 17x8 Evos with the rear spacers. Huge improvement in stance and overall appearance; you won't regret it!

Their turnaround time is 24-48 hours which is super quick, but you can't wash your car for 7 days to allow the clear to cure. Luckily, I wasn't in a rush and had them hold it for a week. They do everything by hand. Mount the tires on the wheels, jack the car with floor jacks, and mount the wheels with a lug wrenchs vs impact gun. They are very thorough, which is why I went to them. Franchised owned which makes it better (mom and pop type).
