I just bought a set of OEM 17" off a 02, for my 4th gen, but the tires are shot. I came across a set of tires at a great price. 215/45/17 is the size, will they be okay? Thanks in advance.

Too damn skinny and tiny sidewall.

You can run 'em but your gearing will be a bit off, your speedo will be a bit off and your wheel gap will be really prominent (you'll have the 4x4 look unless you're really low).

Too narrow. Go w/ 225-50 or 235-45's. I've got 235-45's on my 03 TE's which my 95 rides on, and they fit & look just fine.

for 17 x 7 with a 40mm offset (what 02 OEM wheels are) you got two choices with a little room for flexibility in width

215-50-17

or

235-45-17

225-50 looks better and fill the wheelwell up nicely, even when lowered, granted the speedo might slightly off, it sure as heck is better than a 215 width tire.

i actually like the 215 over the 225 as the wheel width relates to the width of the whole car.

from the back its just right. i had 225s on there with my 04 SLs and i thought they looked too wide.

There is really no smiley that can describe how I felt after reading that post...had to employ the whole gang...

The maxima is a fairly big car, no Honda civic. Anything less than 245s looks like noodles...
