The New Wheels Are On!!! Lots of Pics

So I finally got around to getting these on the car. Overall I am pleased with them and the car feels light as hell now.

Buddy Club stated the rim weighs 13.53lbs each. This is what I got on my scale:

For tires i got General Exclaim UHPs 235/35/r17. Tire Rack lists them at 21lbs each. This is what I got:

After I got them mouonted and balanced I weighed the combo together and got 36.8lbs. The pic didn't come out all that great. I also weighed my old combo as I took them off the car and they weighed in at 60.0lbs!!!

And here they are being put on. Here is a contrast in the different styles:

The coilovers are on the same settings as the 20s were. Here are a couple more:

Lowest point of front bumper seems to be 3.75" off the floor:

Lowest point on rear bumper looks like 5.0'' off the floor:

The weird thing is that the car feels so light now that overall the car doesn't feel as stiff as it use to in the twisties. It definately accelerates faster and the new look grows on me each day. One thing I miss is how the 20s filled up all the gaps. All comments are welcome.

You just got an equivalent of 742.8lbs weight reduction...every 100lbs=.1 second, so you got almost.75 seconds off...1 second=5 car lengths, so you almost a 4 car length gain, or reduction...however you want to look at it

...now just get rid of that spoiler/mirrors and you are set

those look awesome but i agree about the wing and mirrors. they ruin the look. Non-bling wheels are much better. treat the rest of your car with the same treatment.

Gota pay to play....if you want something in the 15-16 pound range then look into Enkeis....motegi tracklites are light as well, but have ****ty offsets...

Thanks for all the comments. I am not sure how much MoMo wheels cost but I know these were a lot more expensive than most OZ and Enkei wheels, for the size.

Here is a new thread of some changes I made over the weekend:

Depends on the wheel width and tire size...additionally, you want to go with the LOWEST offset possible, not the highest. This will push your wheel out for a better look and wider track...

To the OP, very nice! I actually don't mind the whole setup, wing and all. Now just fix your hood struts

Nice color and nice wheels. I am going to have to reiterate some advice--ditch the tails and the body kit. PLEASE. It really is just way too much.

You are on the right track with 13lb wheels and removing the spoiler, now keep on the right track and lose the rest of it (except the paintjob). The .org look is the .org look for a reason--it looks good.

and thank you^^ for replying.

i have a quote on these 5x114.3, 18x8 with 235-45-18 for $1551.56 shipped to my door in Canada and only 23lbs/wheel+tire+air(based on the sales rep.)
again, what would my offset be based on the information above? +35? i would like an inch stick out compare to stock.

You can get lighter wheels for the money...Like the 5Zigen FN01R-Cs, Enkei RFP1s, or the kosei K-1 if you are willing to go with 17s (which is a GOOD idea if you are going for performance)...

for the 8 inch wheel I would aim for a +30 offset all around with a spacer in the rear to match the front...

Perfect "flush" offset depends on camber, ride height, wheel and tire size.

Looks good man. That is a lot of weight reduced there. Would love to see a pic with the center ring on it vs. the cotter pin. What kind of logo center cap came with it?

Congrads.....your wheels look like 90% of everyone elses. I understand the weight savings and all but why does everyone seem to go with this style of wheel?

the generals are actually really good tires for the street...and they are extremely lightweight compared to other tires...maybe he was going for ultimate lightness?

well, the original plan was to get BFG KDW2s. It didn't end up being in my budget due to a lot of other maintenance costs crashing down on me. After lots of research i saw that the UHPs out performed the BFs in certain categories. Thats why I bought these.

I can tell u they perform a whole lot better than my Nitto 555s, especially in wet traction. I think the UHPs perform well and I am going to the track friday. This will be a good test as to how they perform

from what i read, most lightweight wheels take this form because the design allows for the lightest weight.

when i was doing research for these wheels, i always compared the size and offset to other wheels such as Volks, but even those weren't as light, even if they were only 1lb heavier.

another reason i got these is because no one has them. i think someone showed me a pic of the cast iron version on their car, but i haven't seen anyone else with the forged ones like these.
