Need help choosing between tires!

I'm trying to decide what tires I want to run on the G35c rims I bought. I'm going to go with 245/40 all the way around. I was thinking a summer tire because I don't think I'll run these rims in the winter. So I have 3 summer tires and I'm looking at 1 A/S too. Opinions would be great.

Avon Tech M550 A/S Blackwall

Sumitomo HTR Z II Blackwall

Fuzion ZRi Blackwall

Dunlop Direzza DZ101 Blackwall

The review on TireRack are pretty good about all these tires and they're all what in the range of what I'd like to pay for tires. I want something that has great grip with good dry and wet handling and that last for a good amount of time, preferably 30k miles with spirited driving. I drive about 25k miles a year, so the longer the better - although I know you have to balance the performance vs tread life.

dunlops! my boy ran them on a 03 TL-S with a 2.5" drop and the tires wore fairly slow, and provided good handling for the price. i personally had the sumitumos and hated them. loud rough ride.

Eh, I don't know. I never liked goodyear tires for some reason.

Any more input?

Are you looking for 245-40-17 or 245-45-17? The 45s are closer to 5th gen. OE diameter and generally a little cheaper than the 40s.

The cream of the crop for inexpensive summer tires are:

Dunlop Z1 Star Spec (have a $50 rebate or $75 gift card):

Kuhmo XS:

and the Bridgestone RE-01R (discontinued and cheap):

Edit:

The RE-01Rs were replaced by the RE-11 (comes with a $100 gift card):

And if you're willing to wait, Yokohama and Hankok have new tires coming out (AD08 and RS3, respectively).

well I thought peeps were running 245/45/18s but it may very wellbe a 40 series...I need to know which are fitting better too cause I have my 18s but no tires at the moment as well...the bridgstones look pretty good..I got a 6th gen so not sure what would fit best...especially if I go with a small drop

He's looking for 245/40/18, since he said G35 coupe 18s.

There are no RE-01Rs left in that size, I was looking myself. As for "inexpensive" summers, I guess that is a relative term since the Star Specs and RE-11s are around $200+ each, which many would hardly call inexpensive.

Generally, I think what most people around here would term inexpensive (and that still received good reviews) are the General Exclaims, Sumitomo HTR ZIII, and maybe the Bridgestone RE760s and Yoko S.Drives.

I thought someone already answered this question in your other thread - you have a 6th Gen and the stock 18s tire size is 245/45/18. Do you have aftermarket rims? What are the rim widths?

Just as an update, I am really leaning toward the Dunlop DZ101s, but I am really thinking about shelling out the money for the Dunlop Z1 Star Specs. They seem like a great tire and people really like them, but from what I'm hearing, they only last for MAYBE 15k miles. I do about 25k a year, so that means that these will last only 1 season for me. So I think the DZ101s might be better with 2x the life and a little less grip. Kinda torn at this point.

Did you read any of the test results and reviews on the DZ101s? There are better tires out there.

DO NOT get the Sumi HTRZ-II.. they suck ballz. I hated 'em. I went back to Kumho 712 over the Sumis.

As for what I'm running now, I use Yokohama YK520 from Discount tire on my G35 and on the Maxima.
245/45/17 on the Max and 245/45/18 on the G. They're a good handling, long lasting, 'grand touring' tire. they handle well enough to have fun, but have a 60k mile warranty and do GREAT in the rain for whenever that happens around here..

For the price, I haven't found a tire I like better for versatility. For speed, the Kumho MX was better, but many of the tires mentioned above will outrun them now...
