Dunlop Super Sport Race tires - 350$ for a set, brand new...should I?
I have 2 choices:
Dunlop Super sport race ( i cant even find these on tirerack..whats the real name?)
I know the tread wear sucks (60) but can I really get a better deal on new tires than this? 350$ for a set of four.
What do you think?
or Falken Zien ZE912 ? Same price but claim to be used for 300 miles.

so 225 is a no no? I had a 225 fitted on the muranos to see how it would look on my car and it looked normal to me.
Someone explain to me the "cons" of running the 225/40/18 falken.
thanks for your replies btw, much appreciated.

Dunlop SP Super Sport Race, you can't find them because they are an old tire. Appears they came out in 2004. Found a couple forum threads about them with pics, and that is definitely the same tread pattern.

Ask the seller to take a pic of the manufacture date on the sidewall, or just go look at them if they are close. I don't know how long they were produced for, so they might be from as early as 04, but they might be from later like even 06 or 07, depending on how long dunlop made that tire. You should find out before you make a decision.
Problem with old tires is that the rubber loses it's elasticity, starts to dry rot, etc. If they were stored out of sunlight they might be OK(and I see you're in california so you don't have to worry about cold like we do up north, cuz storing tires in a below freezing garage in winter will harm the rubber too).
So basically that Dunlop was a very high end tire, but that was a number of years ago. They won't last you very long (very sticky and very low tread wear, they are an R compound tire). Depending on how much the rubber has deteriorated because of how they were stored, they could still be pretty damn sticky, or they could be dry rotted to hell and not worth it at all.

I bought the 225/40/18 Falken 912's. They came off a Mercedez Benz because he didn't like how thin they were so he went for 225/45/18. Tires look brand new! I got them for 300$
months and months of searching finally paid off.
Pics soon as i finish painting the muranos.

The width is what I was caring about, and tires differ, brand to brand. Don't really care about dia. As for width, again on paper, it's 10mm wider, but I once measured a 2.5" difference in some Yokos and Dunlop 245's. One rubbed like a ****, the other not so much.
Well good shady, you got some tires.
