18x8 G35 7-spoke, how to tell real or knockoff?
I'm about to pick up a set and I read Irish's thread, so measuring the width if it's 7.5" instead of 8" that's proof it's a knockoff? Any other stamps/markings to look for or do the knockoffs copy those also? Should I worry about them being refinished, since they look pretty clean/new? There are no center caps to see if they are yellow or factory.
Also, anyone know what the process is for repairing curb rash on the G35 Rays' 19" wheels? A buddy wants a set that's cheap with rash, but he's got a shop saying only $200-$300 to "polish the scratches out".
Thanks in advance,
Alex

I recently just decided on getting another set of wheels instead of the g35c but thats a dam good question!! Eventually when funds are right ill grab a set of the g35's and have em as a spare set of rims so im looking for definitive answers as well ..
So : 8 instead of 7.5 and Nissan markings on one or two spokes..
Anyone else got some identifiers for us?
Good question OP!

Well, I bought them. Look damn near new, other then balancing weights still attached. Supposedly, a G35 guy had them on a week before removing. No rash, chips, or more importantly tire shop buggers.
Now to start figuring out what tires. Looks like 245/40/18 are -0.5% or 255/40/18 are +0.7. Opinions or links on optimal size? Brand/model?

I'd like to go with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S again, but they're $928 on tirerack. Thinking about the Continental ExtremeContact DWS for $628, 3lbs lighter per tire is hard to believe, but only a A vs AA traction rating.

What did you pay for the g35's if you dont mind me asking? & How did you find them in without being all beat up and curbed to death!
235/40/18 FTW!!!
I think im going with the Hankook v12 EVO's when i grab tires and rims soon!

Me or the OP? If youre asking me, $450 with tires. I only rub a little, so I'm getting some mileage out of them before I replace them. Also got Nissan center caps off Ebay for $15 shipped. Some very minor curbing on 2 wheels, nothing I can't live with, its not a show car. Also 225's are easier to find in my opinion, but I guess I understand if you want more contact patch.

I have relative on 235/40/18's and they ride great.. but im actually on 17's myself.. Ill be jumpin wheel size to 18's in the next week or two.
Im getting a good deal on some rims and a set of 235/40/18 hankook v12 Evo's .. Ill let you know my final verdict.. lol
I wanted to get G35's at first and i still do kinda but they are so hard to find in decent shape with original finish and not ebay fakes.. I actually missed a set here on the org not to long ago but i had just bought coilovers and funds were not right!
I kinda went about it **** backward and got coilovers first when i should have gotten rims and tires first!

^^ lol, yeah i guess youre right! Im not doing the install but the shop im having it done at said if i was gonna get rims soon i should just hold off.. so my coilovers are sitting in my garage! Im actually not looking forward having to pay for the install but i dont know nada about suspensions or toe, camber and all this other bs so im just gonna have a tuner shop do it. Its not that expensive but it adds up..
