Tire size question.

I just bought my 04 SL. I shouldve checked but didnt.

Now my alignment is off and tire balance seems bad.(steering wheel shakes) So I looked at the tires and came to find out that the previous owner put a 215/55/17 and a 225/50/17 on the rear.

Would this be the cause of the bad alignment and vibration in the steering wheel?

so, same rims, but two different tire sizes? the previous owner and get matching on the rears. You don't have to have the rears match teh fronts, but you DO have to have the rears match each other.

Thanks for the quick response.

Will putting the same size on the rears correct the alignment, or will I have to re-align?

no telling, tbh. It will likely correct, but it'd also be a good idea to get an alignment. I personally would get an alignment when I get the new tires. And I would buy TWO new tires, not just one.

4 is best, but at minimum, pairs. That way, get yourself a cheap wheel and then you've got a full size spare too

Sure thing

Remember, the new tires will go on the REAR of the car. It's sorta counter-intuitive but that's what they'll do.

if I were you I would start fresh by finding some OEM 6th gen rims and getting a nice set of tires, all matching... get the alinement done and forget about it... the rims that are on your car just make it look hideous, I am sorry but it does... get her back to stock and don't go cheap on the tires... after all they are your only connection to the road that you travel on and the life that you live

LMAO..........I dont like the wheels either. I already posted an ad to buy or trade for OEM wheels the day I bought the car. I didnt want to pass up the deal just because of the wheels. To be honest I dont think look hideous, they just arent my style!
