- I saw this really fast Honda powered shifter-kart with a 125cc one cylinder motor. It does 0-60 in sub 2 and 0-100 in about 10 seconds. It's sweet.
- I'm seriously considering dropping that sweet piece of machinery into my car. Go Honda!
- With the size of the engine, I could probably fit three to four under the hood.
- The only problem is that I can't find small enough wheels with a five bolt pattern. Does anyone know where I can find some 5" wheels that will fit a Max?

Pros/Cons of Engine Swap:

1. Engine(s) rev to 13,500rpm
2. Better gas mileage
3. Four times the exhaust noise (no more "sleeper" for me)
4. One cylinders are easy to rebuild
5. Cheaper when I have to buy spark plugs
6. Actually makes power after 5 grand
7. Paddle shifters are faster than my five-speed
8. Cool bumper sticker: "My lawn mower car is faster than your lawn mower"
9. "Six speed sequential times four" just sounds plain cool
10. Don't have to drive with a "Sounds of F1" Soundtrack any more.

1. Four tachometers
2. Still only equals half a liter.
3. 110 octane gas ($4.00 a gallon)
4. Hand clutches are a pain in traffic
5. People might equate me with Ricer Hondas
6. I can't exactly show up to Big Block meetings anymore
7. Idle isn't smooth unless you're around 7,000rpm
8. "What's under the hood" question takes four times as long to answer
9. Classification at SCCA events continually puts me on the "Screwed Up!" list.
10. Dropping the clutch at 13,500 attracts lots of attention from not-so-friendly law enforcement officials.

- What do you guys think? I think it would be tight!

I'll have you know

I'll have you know those 125cc shifter karts are not your normal brigs lawn mower engine. They are actually quite nice and rev to 13K rpm plus. The one i drove was 42hp at the wheels. with me in it weighted only 350lbs. figure that if it had a fly wheel it's putting out close to 50hp each at the flywheel. So you would need at least 5 shifter Kart engines do be faster then the you current max engine. But a 5 cyclinder total pumping out 250 and 210 at the wheels is pretty impressive. Thats alot more efficient then what you have now. Thats a really impressive 400hp per liter. Eat your heart out anyone who thinks they have a fast engine only formula One can match 400hp per liter.

f1 engines

hey, 400 hp per litre on a f1 ride? i dont think so...i was on their website looking at the different teams, the engines are v12 with 3.0 litres of displacement, putting out 700-800 hp. thats under 300 per litre (LOL)

i would pay mucho bux to have one of those in my max

However...

- I believe that we have overlooked one item in our comparison of F1 versus Shifter Karts: F1 drivers get paid a whole lot more.

- On a different note, what would happen if we left the V-6 up front, but added two SK motors in back? Then we'd only have THREE tachometers. Although, keeping the original plan for four shifter kart motors would still provide better gas mileage. :-0
